Yeah I'm having the same problem as those guys. ^^ There must be place to custom order this tape stuff to whatever size you need. Also possible is flat LED's with withsomething to diffuse the light, then the sill on top.

sigh sorry guys. kinda got caught up with crap here.

I took some pics of my sill pre-put on. Will post those this weekend.

Gonna install these on a local members ride. will take Full install pics with his.

Here is where you can get the EL Panels

http://www.luminousfilm.com/
The split electrolite film is what you need. They can cut as long as you need it, as wide as you need it, they can attach leads and also sell invertors for it.

I will measure the Turbocharged letters for you as well. Off the top of my head I am remembering 3/4"x18" Give or take

Spectre.

Have on OCC did his as well after I told him how to do it. So you can see either his or mine.

Mine show up red his show up White

This is actually pretty easy to do. The hardest part is finding the right size EL tape, and cheap. I was looking at this project, and it was expensive for colors other than salmon.
You cut out plexiglass to size, put your EL tape underneath. Then you drill a hole under the door sill and run it horizontally inside the car. You can ground the wire wherever. You can make it turn on with your doors open by tapping into the dome light fuse with "add a circuit".
Mount/tape everything together and check out the results.
Congrats to the OP, this is a favorite mod for any car forum.

Yeah no one said it was hard. I haven't bothered looking but if I find the strips for it I'll buy the sills and do it.

And you need to splice either directly into the door triggers (which are negative and need to be switched to positive with a relay) or splice into the BCM wires for both power and ground.

It depends on which door sills you get but here's the link

http://glowhut.com/12-x-125-inch-el-...conn12125.html

The sills I got (Cobalt SS) are about 11 and some change inches long...if you got the turbocharged or supercharged ones I don't know how long they are and they may not fit.

You will also need an inverter to wire them up properly

http://glowhut.com/12-volt-dc-invert...e--el-pan.html

Here's a link to the pics of mine that I posted in another thread

Well I finally finished doing this mod and it works perfectly! I just went ahead and added to the already existing How-to for courtesy lighting that will light up only while the door is open. Here's the link to it if you haven't already seen it:

^ Hope that statement isn't hinting at this mod being rice because IMO it's very tasteful and I think everyone here agrees.
