dull nighshades?

i recently used vht on my tails. i wiped them down with rubbing alcohol and didnt sand them.
i gave them all equal coats. i did the outers first and the inners last.
the difference is completely different with the same exact prep. this was a pain in the ass because my lights are stripped and glued in there( dealer fucked them up) so i had to tape them off while they were on the car

can i just use 2000 grit sand paper on the outers and then use rubbing compound and polish by hand? or do i need to clear it first then wet sand and polish?

pics...

Your taillights are glued in? That sucks. Shoot them with clear, wetsand and polish them. It will get rid of that haze. But it would be wayyy easier to wetsand and polish them off the car.

Mask off the rear end with newspaper and blankets. Use fluid sweeping motion and apply 4-5 light coats of clear. Don't do it in direct sunlight otherwise it it will crack and look like crap. It took me all of about an hour to do mine. 2 Coats of VHT + 5 Coats of Clear coat. No wetsanding. Only thing I did afterwards was add 3 coats of Meguair's Tech Wax.
