Not bad! I like the look of the suede as the handle itself. Not sure if I'd like it to just be covering the plastic where the brick slides over, but it looks better than the pipe insulation. With the conduit pipe, I had to shave the plastic down a bit to make it fit, but I got it to be pretty snug so it doesn't slide off.

I was honestly thinking about going that route and using some metal pipe to make one, but I don't have a welder so it was gonna end up being kind of a pain in the ass making it. I thought about PVC and figured it would be a pain too, especially making plastic look better then plastic. But since I had the rest of the suede laying around I figured I'd give it a shot. I was worried about it being too thin but so far it doesn't seem too bad. If I can ever get full access to metal fab tools though, I'll probably redo it and go with the metal pipe.

Yeah it's comfortable. Suede always feels nice. But I think I'm gonna hand make some new boots for the e-brake and shifter and maybe do the ebrake in a thicker leather and put the seam on the bottom this time.

the second version doesnt look half bad, the seam on the bottom would clean it up alot. you guys need armrests, they cover up the ebrake pretty well.

Well I got the boots made and rewrapped the handle in heavier leather and put the seam on the bottom. Stitching in a mirror is a pain in the ass!! Haha. Found out the top side of the e-brake boot is about 3 inches too short. Gonna put in a new piece of leather for the top and bottom and should be good to go. Pics will come tomorrow.

Ok, so I redid the e-brake boot this morning and got it long enough to fit properly. So heres the pics.

New shift boot. Its about an inch and a half longer then factory so that it dont pull up the back portion when I shift into the forward gears.

New e-brake and e-brake boot. I decided to wrap the suede in thicker leather to give it more width and to be able to put the seam on the bottom.

Let me know what yall think. And yes, those are both made out of real leather instead of the cheap ass vinyl used by GM.

Haha. Thanks man. Seeing leather can be a pain in the ass cause you can't just run a needle through it, you have to punch the holes first, but I used to be a saddle maker so to me it's not bad. But the double sided tape or spray adhesive would have probably been enough to hold it in place. I just like the feel of the seam in my knuckle when I grab the ebrake. Let's me know my hand is where it should be and I have a secure grip. Lol

Honestly, for the price I would be concerned that they are genuine leather. I mean at $20 a set that's kinda cheap for real leather. Hell mine are made from goat skin leather which is cheaper then calf skin and it was still $28 for just the leather sheet with my discount. Granted the eBay ones are machine stitched and probably stamped out a dozen at a time on a machine, it still seems really cheap.

I upgraded mine simply because I wanted leather. And when I want to put leather in my car I want to know that it's genuine leather.

Oh and today I also leather wrapped my shift knob cause I was sick of the glare off the chrome. I think it matches pretty nicely.

Oh. My bad for coming off as pissy then. Haha.

But I know for a lot of people, leather interior is kind of a status thing. That's why people buy alcantara leather or alligator "leather". For me, I want to know when I look in my car that the leather trim is real leather. Maybe it's pointless on a base model economy car, but I am of the mindset that if I'm going to upgrade something like that I might as well use the real thing. And if I had to have someone else make them for me, I probably would have gone synthetic since its cheaper. But for me the price of making my own out of real leather was just as cheap as buying premade synthetic pieces and actually cheaper then buying vinyl. Plus the durability of leather over vinyl is a big factor to me.

But I do understand that a lot of people are indifferent to what material is used. I myself just happen to be a bit of a leather snob. Haha
