fixing stone chip/flake

a few days ago i noticed this chip on my car right above the rear wheel well. i have some spray paint but im not quite sure how to go about it. And if i just paint over it will it stick or will i have problems with rust? any suggestions?

06_SIC_SS would be a good person to ask about this. He's well versed in fixing paint issues.

ur gonna make me blush

and i would honestly recommend a paint matched paint pen.. ( gm dealership should be able to supply one for you ) its so small that you could be more precise with a pen and when careful you can match them quite nicely. clean the area of any debris/ dirt.. and with a steady hand lay a thin coat with the paint pen. taken your time. dont rush and puddle it... dont just try and fill it in like ur coloring inbetween the lines of a picture.. take ur time and if you wanna lay another coat you can. its awfully small to spray and taping it off would be a PITA.. id recommend a pen personally.. and if you wanted to be more precise later on and put a layer of clear and blend it with a buffer you could.. but honestly.. its small and on an edge.. paint pen it slowly and itll more than likely disappear

this will also prevent it from being bare and having any worries of rust.. this goes for other small paint blemishes elsewhere on the car too

I used the DupliColor paint matched pen. $5 at Advanced Auto Parts.

Make sure to buy the clear as well. I did this on my front bumper, about 50 very small stone chips. About a month later 90% of them reappeared. Just from normal rain, washing the car, and all the other elements. Pain in the ass to try and remember where they all were several hours later haha.
