Not too hard. Just reach back behind the grill and take off the 2 nuts (10mm). Then tape off the "chrome" lip with painters tape (assuming you want to keep it chrome) and paint. I had never painted anything before and it came out great. I actually used a How-to from here

yeah theres really only one way to take it off hahah
but i didn't tape my off. just sanded everything that will show and then sprayed adhesion promoter, then primer+sand+primer then two coats of color and wet sand then clear
