Front License holder. How to remove it ?
Front License holder. How to remove it ?
I just picked up my new 06 Cobalt SS/SC Laser Blue today, I live in Michigan and they had to bring it in from Ohio. Picked it up with 282 miles on it.
I guess in Ohio you need the licence plate on the front so it's got that awefull looking black plastic licence frame thing on the front where a plate would go, any idea how to get that damn thing off? It's some wierd 3 star looking tool, almost looks like its rivited on =( I took a small flathead screwdriver into it and all it does it turn. Anyone know how to remove it?
Thanks

Dealers sometimes will bend over backwards for you to help you out at first.... well at least untill you fill out the customer satisfaction survery GM sends you shortly after you get the car. The dealers get better incentives from GM sometimes if you check completly satisfied.
Ex: I have an apointment to get my rims swapped out, because when I got the car, there were a few light scrathes on them. Looks like someone scrapped em on a curb then the dealer tried to buff em out.
I have the same scratches on my rims, EACH RIM has the exact scratches on them. ODD.
Yeah I'll talk to him about the front licence plate thing too. Thanks

If you JUST picked it up, like with in a few days, call the dealer and see what they will do for you.

They have to be drilled out. I did it on my car then got some plastic plugs from the hardware store, dipped them in paint and pushed into the holes.
not meaning to bring to life old threads, but doesn anyone have a picture of the inside of there front bumper? really want to know how to get it off, and Cobalt30 do you have a write up on the plugs yet? based on your sig it looks pretty good. Thanks in advance

I used accessory plugs from Adv Auto parts. similar ones that hold your carpeting to the underside of your trunklid
Then paint them your body color, and plug them into the holes in your bumper

Some dealers screw them in, most use rivets. If you can’t unscrew them, just drill them out from the front.
As mentioned, if you have not yet filled your customer satisfaction survey, the dealer will most likely take care of it, especially if your state does not requite it.
Good luck
