G5/Balt
G5/Balt
Ive heard that you can do any performance changes on the g5 that you can do with the cobalt since they are both ecotecs, and any body kits that fit on the balt fit on the g5 or vice-versa. Is this true?
there is no 09 supercharger. sedan tail lights are not the same as g5, the sedan is bigger and the brackets holding them are different. the rear bumper for the cobalt coupe and g5 are different, and the rear bumper for the sedan and g5 are different too.
Ok, to clarify:
The body of the G5 and Cobalt are the same for the Coupes. The unibody is the exact same so everything will interchange. There are minor differences in the rear that must be noted, mainly the taillights, trunk and bumper that make some parts incompatable unless you replace all of those pieces. For example, you cannot have the Cobalt taillights on a G5 without needing the Cobalt bumper too. The front of the car is the same except for the grille surrounds. The bumper itself is the EXACT same between the G5 and Cobalt. They are both taken from the same mold at Lordstown. The only difference is that on the assembly line, the Chevrolet crossbar is trimmed for bumpers intended for use on the G5.
Another note: The Cobalt/G5/Pursuit sedan taillights, trunk lid, and rear bumper (G5/Pursuit Sedans only exist in Canadian/Mexican markets) are NOT usable on the coupes. They won't even line up.
For the interior, the Cobalt and G5 are the exact same. The only differences between the G5 and the Cobalt is mainly the steering wheel emblem, gauge cluster, and trim color (US G5's usually have shadow grid for the trim while the Cobalt is usually silver). These differences are only cosmetic and everything is swappable.
The powertrain in the G5 is also the same as the naturally aspirated Cobalts. (L61 and LE5 engines with the 4T45E or F23 transmissions for Model Years 2005-2008; the LAP with either the 4T45E or F23 transmission for 2009+)
