Like it or hate it, it's still a pretty cool modification to the back of your car. I like it. Nothing screams cobalt more than our rear tails anyway. Good luck with the swap, if done correctly it'll look amazing!

The bare trunk lid looks good, but the remaining taillights need to be bigger to kinda "fill out" the bumper.

Oh wait, that's a G5.

could mount fog lights to the bottom of the spare tire well

but I am guessing the OP doesn't want to "tack on" lights, and would want a CLEAN appearance

as for location of rev. lights..i don't think that is regulated, corvette C6 is at the bottom of the bumper (where they provide useful light)

From what I understand, the tailights will not fit even with the G5 bumper because underneath is shaped specifically for a Cobalt. I heard this from a guy who knows the owner of a body shop who had someone try it, so take it for what it's worth. I'm still in the process of finding the source of that info.

Someone would have to try it again for proof.

I seriously doubt that GM went through the expense of creating two seperate rear structural sheet metal stampings(one for Balt and one for G5) I mean ****, they did even give the G5 its own fascia, they just butcher up Cobalt ones and put on a different grille.

While I have never done it, I am gonna ay that that there is no reason you cant do a G5 rear fascia/lamp swap. You can swap everything else, and like I said when you look at the fascia issue it just seems supeduperuber incredibly unlikely that the rears are different

That's quite true. I would imagine all parts swappable between the Cobalt and G5.

You probably need reverse lights to pass inspection in states that do that, I'm not familiar. In any event, it wouldn't be that big a deal in day to day driving and even reverse lights in your rear window would be fine. A pair of them could be nicely integrated to the SS/SC rear lip.

do the swap and go get you a back up light off a mini cooper (the oval one they have below the tag) put the light in the middle of the lip on the back bumper, thats my plan.

you could get a white led stripe and put it where the trunk closes, kinda like the trucks that have the brake light right under the tailgate

Just get something like this

http://www.oznium.com/led-modules

And find a funky way to implement them without being too visible

It's funny, cause I saw a thread on G5club about a Cobalt trunk swap. They chopped it, probably looks worse than this.
