Im looking to do some more appearance mods to the balt. I want to get the front lip off a 2.0 and the rear lip off a G5GT. Does anyone know if the rear lip of the G5GT will fit on the bumper of a 2.4l Cobalt? I really dont like any other lip, and I would prefer to not have to settle for the 2.0 lip.

 

I beleive it will fit but you'd have to cut the opening for the clips yourself. Not 100% sure on the fit. Theres a how-to but its for a SS/SC lip on the 2.4L bumper which sould be the same as putting the GT lip on SS/NA.

 

Thats what I figured.. I just wasnt 100% sure, there have been so many mixed answers in past threads.

 

IMO the g5gt lip looks pretty boring. And it also looks like if installed, it's not gonna look any diff than it 2.4 bumper. Width wise I mean. Look at how the arch of the lip is the same size as the 2.4. Looks the same to me

 

Thats why I prefer this lip to the SS/SC one. I think it looks cleaner, nice and simple. I just want a lip in the rear so I can put the lip on the front and it looks balanced.

 

Incorrect, because the G5 lip fits on the base G5 bumper. If you took off your lip, you'd have a base G5 bumper. But the Cobalt SS bumper is actually different than the base bumper, it extends lower to the ground. What I'm saying is... there's a good chance a GT lip is too small for an SS bumper.

 

By too small you mean if you try to push up the lip onto the bumper, it wont push up high enough to line up with the necessary slits?

 

i dont think the contour of the 2.4 bumper will accpet the G5 GT lip without cutting

 

Yea, Ive been looking at so many pictures today, its hard to tell. If anyone has or knows where to find the dimensions of the Cobalt and G5 that would be a good way to get a definitive answer.

 

Just go to the chevy web site and check the specs. That what I did when I put my ss/sc rear lip on my 2.4sedan

 

So the G5 Gt rear lip would fit on a LS or LT rite?

could some one photo shop a ss/sc with a G5 GT rear lip... or G5 GT with the sc front lip so i can get a good look (side, front, and rear) please... thanks

yeah i wanted to get ss front bumper and lip and side skirts and the G5 GT rear lip but never knew what it would look like... do u have a pic of the whole car like that?

 

Guys have put the SC front on their G5 GT's... check G5 club for that. As for the G5 lip, even if that did fit on an SS/SC not sure why you'd do that.

I'm thinking the G5 lip would come up a bit short, like it wouldn't make it all the way to the wheel well. And another comment about the front lip, SS/SC, SS/NA, and G5 GT all have the exact same fascia - they cut out the middle bar at the factory and add the Pontiac insert for the G5, or add the lip into the pre-marked slits for the SC. All the same ****.

 

I've seen the ss/sc lip fit the 2.4 and base balt bumper......been wondering if the G5 rear would fit a balt for a few years just never seen anyone try to do it or even attempt to find out if it would fit.

 

Well here are the specs on both g5gt and ss/sc...

G5gt Lenght ....179.8. Ss/sc.....180.3
G5gt widght.....67.5 Ss/sc.......67.9

These measurements are in inches. So I think the bumper would fit. They're isn't much of a difference.

Btw the width Is the important #s to put the rear lip on

Yeah deffinitely would fit. You gotta bite the bullet and do it. I'm the first sedan to put an ss/sc rear lip on. You can be the first to do the g5gt rear lip on a coupe

 

When I go to do my SS lip kit for my LS I might check into the Pontiac lips... not sure yet
