Gen 1 HID retrofit?
I am wanting to retrofit my Gen1's with a mini morimoto bixenon projector from theretrofitsource.com.
does anyone know if these projos will fit the housing?
the reason why i want to retrofit the gen 1's is because my hid kit has dark spots because the gen1 projo is a halogen projector, the bulb doesnt sit right therefore having poor light output and a poor cutoff.
if anyone has any knowledge of how to modify the bulbs to make the gen1's work with HIDs let me know. also let me know if anyone knows if the mini morimoto will fit in place of the stock gen1 projo.
THANKS!

It fits. But doing it sucks. Couple of guys on here have retrofitted projos (not gen 1's, but I'm betting it'll still fit) and they make it seem easy. But unless you know what you're doing, it's not easy.

thats what im thinking, but i figured id just melt the casing open (of course reading up on how to do so) and remove the existing projo then just putting the new one in then re sealing it.. but of course things are never that easy,. but i dont know, if anyone has previous experience with this, id appreciate the input

As long as you don't melt anything getting the lens off the headlight, removing the stock projector and putting in the Morimoto Mini is pretty basic. I've never dealt with gen1 lights, but when I retrofitted my gen4s, the stock projector was only held in by three nuts. Removing those was all it took to remove the entire projector, then it was just a matter of making small brackets so the Morimotos could use the stock mounting spots, put the nuts back on, put the lens back on and you should be done.

One was just posted for using the gen4 lights. All you really do is make a small metal rectangle with holes in it so that you can make the holes on the new projector reach the mounts from the old one.
