General AFR Gauge Wiring Question..

Hey guys,

I decided to wire my Auto Meter AFR gauge here before long.. It's just a narrow-band, so I know it's not super necessary, but I wanted to use my s/c a-pillar pod for something.. My question is that I know an AFR gauge works off of a light system.. But noes it need to be reading to register? As-in, if I just ran power to it will the full bar light up or will nothing happen? Or do I have to run power and a sender before it works..?

Thanks!

Run power and the brown wire needs to be hooked to the O2 sensor.

I believe their is a write up somewhere around here.

Which 02 sensor? I know there's a how-to thread, but since it's here, I'll post it..

Also, what kinda wire do I run with this? It's used and the wires aren't long.. Need to add longer ones..

So is the purple one with the white stripe the only one in that bundle shown? I'm slightly familiar with those bundles because I wired my Shift Plus into one of them.. Then the power supply shown is legit too? Is a good place to mount the ground to the metal under the center console? Like where the under-dash fuse panel is? Could I also wire the power wire under there too? If so, what fuse slot style?

The power is ok but not permanent. Wire up your own fuse to it. And ass for the wire yea I think that's right.

Well the way he has it he stuck it in the fuse slot, that will eventually burn the contact off like mine did. Just get a build book for your car at Auto Zone and look where one of those wires are coming off from the fuse he told you to insert it into and tap into that and fuse it. Much better and safer.

Is there any other way of running power? I always like to be fully prepared before I do something.. I've never been able to find a build-book though..? So I want to locate that actual wire coming from the fuse panel, then splice it into that basically? That's kinda how I read that..

Well I have to redo mine some day and I was thinking just wire them into my driving lights since their basically always on, a thought so far until I come up with something else. Maybe talk with a car customizing shop they might be able to help for like $20. Kinda all I have to offer.

That totally makes sense. That way it automatically comes on with your lights.. To do that would you just run your power to the same wire at your corner bulbs then? Or would it have to be your main bulbs? Or something..? lol.

Corners with out the blinker wire, don't know exactly which one then yea for the gauge lights would be good for the low beams. This is just a suggestion don't hold me responsible for anything. I'm not sure on the wattage and it's not over 30 amps so your good on that.

Yea man sorry, I mean it should be safe but like I said I dunno about the wattage???

Maybe look into taping into a wire under your dash if you can find where it goes, like the gauges or something???

Yeah.. Maybe I'll post up another thread, but just regarding another place to splice your wire into so it turns on with the rest of them, like we mentioned..
