GTP Scoops on the SS hood

Holes in a hood don't always mean a good thing. If that was the case every car company would use hood scoops, reverse hood scoops, cowl hoods, etc., but they don't most design the air to travel through the front grille to in and around the engine bay. Hence why a lot of cars have those cheap looking plastic engine covers.

The only way they could really hurt is aero is if they stick up excessievly (sp?) and they suck air in. Which they way they are mounted are very unlikely. Plus if all this is true you wouldn't see any affects of it until well over 120 miles per hour
wow lots of insite!!!! i wasnt complaining about the compliments to each is own i live by the rule its my car.... if you watch them when the motor is hot and outside isnt you can see heat waves... doesnt matter if it pulls 3 degrees it will help a little. I just did it I like it and was showing that you dont HAVE to buy a custom hood.

jk! They look good. Finish them up and they will be really cool. Also, You still doing stripes?

Aero effects every vehicle on the road. Ever follow a semi? AERO. On a windy day you get knocked around behind or next to one.
I'm not saying its going to completly mess up the vehicle but he might see a slight drop in gas mileage or it might force the car to push or get excessive air underneath it and "pick up" the body.
Do we need to see how a wind tunnel works? Everything that is designed today is tested for wind and aero properties.
Wyoming I dont think it looks that good, but if you get it finished or molded in it would look much better. Just my opinion.
O.K. I camend you on having enough balz to cut up your hood. I am not going to critisize you or anything. I am shure that you knew what you were getting into when you put your cobalt under the knife. I was thinking of doing something like this except closer to the front of the hood kinda like a Ram Air T/A, except not as rice as your setup. Maybe bodycolor scoops, or use some stripes to blend them.

thanx i really dont care if anyone likes or dislikes them... its my car!
On a side not i drive a Semi and that AERO that you are speakin of is because of the huge RECTANGLE that is being dragged. I do get your point. but the only thing that i do is drag race at Bandimere and to get heat out of the engine is a + and thats what they do. they are not going to affect my times. I only race to beat myself (bracket racing). minimal gaines/losses dont really care... they look good and moreso unique to my car!
ill finish them up on sunday and get some pictures

yeah once we pulled the heat sheild off the car there was only 2 places to put them where they are now or further back.. i would have liked them further up myself but i didnt want to cut the braces.
also scince they are a work in progress i am gonna body match them to see if i like them better
I like'em!
and guys lets be ****** real here.
hurting aero?...causeing the car to run hotter?....are you ****** crazy!
ok aero, yes there is a small change in how "aero active" our car is but very little...it takes more then that to make a noticable change in our drag coefficient.
so thats out....
now for makeing the car run hotter.....WTF are you thinking?...our cooling system is VERY good at keeping things in check. i've had my fans set to hold the car at 181-185deg in the middle of summer so thats dam neer no chance of runing the car hotter.
i think thouse would act more like the small scoop on a WRX....will help push fresh/cool air into the engine bay while driveing and when stoped hot air has a place to exit the bay.
its a win/win....
i may be worryed about exact placement due to water and road **** geting under the hood thro the hole.
i think some of ya'll may just be TO critical on things.

You need an update in how Aerodynamics work. I even said myself that if it hurts it at all its only very slight. But you just need your last word. It is possible for it to hurt the aerodynamics. If air is being forced through the openings it can create a dragging force or upliffting force on the chasis. It would only be noticable at higher speeds. Like that of above 120. Like i've said many times before. Learn to read posts before commenting out your ass. Thanks
Road **** getting in? What the hell is going to fly off the road and be sucked in? A SQUIRREL? If anything to be worried about it would be small animals when the car is parked for an extended period.
i would have to throw a bunch of pictures on here.. i have blacked out a bunch of things and plan on doing some kind of black stripe (not sure yet). ill post up a few so you get the idea of why they are black
