Halo Projectors

I am in love with those Halo lens/look. Is there something like this available for the 2008/2009 SS Coupes?

What would I need to get the Halo look? What does HID converters have to do with it. Are the Halos and HID converter system mutually exclusive? Do I need both of them?

I am a total newb when it comes to headlights/lighting for autos.

Break down what I would need to buy.

I heard GenII are plug and play. GenII refers to the Halo Projectors right. HIDs different?

I dunno much about HID ..though I think they do enhance them..

The projectors should run 150$...get CCFL if you can...

OK thanks.. would putting an HID converter system in to light the Halo/Projectors just be for that HID Blue look via the Halos?

Can I use stock bulbs/housing with most Halo Projector kits?

they give u bulbs with the halo projector kit (at least mine cmae with them)..

all you need is the turning bulbs (orange ones) ..but the kit comes with those..

HID systems depend on the power of the system....im not so sure bout the color but I think that is more related to bulbs

HID = really freakin bright = Why I want HIDs

HID installation --> https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...&highlight=HID

I think I got this down. I use an HID light system to power the Halo Projector kit. Get that nice blue halo instead of a white one!

Am I right? HID enhances the Halo Projector kits?

The color of the halo depends on the bulb...mine are blue and I don't even have an HID kit..

the HID kit is like a amplifier...making the light much more intense

Like on those damn blinding Acura Legends...

just get a blue bulb + HIDS = acura type bluish light with blinding intensity

Ok I gotcha. Thanks

If anything.. I would do what you have going on. I don't give a **** about blindin intensity. I Just want the sweet Halo's + projector and a blue tint from just a bulb would be nice too. So if the 2009 SS Coupe has a halo projector that will fit it in the near future, I will go with that.

I think some peeps allready have GenII plug and play Halo Projectors off ebay (CCFL Brand?) on their 08 SS/TCs, don't see why my soon to arrive 09 SS won't fit them?

I just think those halo rings glowing light bluish are sweet!

To you guys that have these CCFL projector lights, do you notice that there very dim at night. I am looking to get a pair but i heard that HID kits get way to hot for the cheap aftermarket housing, and will melt them. Is this true?

Okay, a lot of bad info going on in here.

An HID conversion kit replaces the stock headlight bulb with a high intensity discharge bulb and ballast. They are sold in different temperature (color) choices-from 3000 K (yellow) up to purplish colors. If you get an HID kit, be smart and get 4100K to 4300K (pure white-most lumen output)

The CCFL halos are a separate light source. They will require you to wire them up separately from everything else.

Installing an HID conversion kit will not affect the color of the halos, only the light coming from the headlight (projector)

Oh, and HIDs run cooler than halogen bulbs.

see, I was researching the CCFL Gen 2s... with a what is the company called.!... B3 HID Lights.. ??????

Anyways, some people were sayin that their LED Halos burned out and since the CCFLs are from Ebay, no help from merchant. I also read that a lot of people have the Gen II , as wel as Gen I and Gen III CCFL installed for months no probs.

How hard is a Halo Projector w/ HID system to install?

Im not dumb with tools, but deff. not gifted by any means. I would say I am mechanically neutral, hehe.

It shouldn't be too difficult. I don't know much about the actual projector headlight unit, but I have retrofitted projectors and HIDs in my old G6. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

As far as installing the headlight, it'll be very simple, just onbolt the olds and bolt in the news, then aim. The hardest part is going to be the wiring. Do you have any experience with wiring/soldering?
