silverstars suck, they only last 30-60 days on high usage

Why not just put HIDs in your fogs as well?

If you want your headlights to be brighter you should buy HIDs. If you just want them to be whiter than silverstars or piaa bulbs will do.

5000k HID's from 3bspec. I absolutely love them. I have them aimed rather low as well.

Don't want to hear that BS about glare either.. you tell me what's worse, someone putting 5k HID's in reflector housings or that ******* in the truck with factory HID's that blind every car coming in the opposite direction. It's bad with stock lights, even. I get blinded all the time when I am driving at night, so **** em. You shouldn't be staring into peoples' headlights anyway.

would it just be cheaper to buy a whole new HID headlight assembly than getting new bulbs for the stock units?

X2.
I feel the same way man. I hate it when the only people who flash their lights at night are tall ass pickup trucks. I also have 5000K 50W HID headlights and fogs from 3bspec. They are bright I cannot understand why everyone doesn't have HID.

I havn't had a single car flash their lights at me. It's fine so long as you don't aim them too high. If you aim them high enough you will get people flashing you even if you use regular halogen bulbs.
