headlight question

i've been planning on painting my headlights for a while now but i figured i would play it safe and get myself a second set in case of a screw up. anyway, i got a driver side light off ebay last night, can't get the other one until i get paid again. it looks to be in good shape minus a small crack on the back and a black smudge on the lens. from the pics it doesn't seem to be all that big but i was wondering what i could do to get rid of it? the seller mentioned using paint thinner in the listing but i thought i would get .net's advice first

no prob, if you want to buy them to repaint thats fine too they will be easier to open too because the silicone is softer then the stock sealant

i would try paint thinner to remove the mark but make sure you wipe it off quick cause it can eat away at the plastic
