Headlights

Hey guys. So my gen 3 headlights are starting to peel and I cant get them to aim at all. Sick of removing the headlights and trying to adjust them so im thinking about getting another set of headlights. My question Is there any out there that can be adjusted without removing the headlight?

Why would you take them out to adjust them?

They make angled and knuckle screwdrivers that will allow you to adjust the lights without removal. Couple bucks for one need, new tool in the box for future jobs.

I don't have to take my Gen4s out to adjust. Drop me a text and I can meet up to show you sometime if you wanted to see. The other option would be to do a retrofit...not worth paying extra to have someone else do it as it really is not that difficult. I did one last winter for my Tundra and if I had known how easy it was I would have never bought the Gen4s. The Gen4s are still good, but the output will never be as good as a retrofit.

I recommend investing in a nice set of retros.

I've been tempted to do this actually...however I'm unsure how I would mount the new/better projectors and don't want to rip it all apart only to have to screw around trying to figure out how to make extra brackets etc. Then there's always the chance that they'll wobble loose or something.

Do you have any tips or insight on what type of projector mounts easily to the original projector housing for the Gen4s? (Always looking for suggestions!)

Easiest projectors to mount on these lights are the Morimoto MH1s.

Have you done this already? How would you go about swapping the original projector out and putting the Morimoto projector in? I've done a bit of research before and this was the most I've found relating to it and it looks like there were brackets that required to be made up (referring to what NCC200 and UrbanRoque did).

Take ur time. Don't rush it. Anything is possible.
Or pay somebody to do it.

I would recommend going for some retors.

I did mine in roughly 4 hours and they came out pretty nice.

If you go that route go to theretrofitsource.com
they sells the complete kit you need to do some retros. But you will need stock headlights to retrofit.

umm OP just so you know, there is a knob sticking up from behind the headlight housing, you turn it with a screwdriver and it adjusts the angle of the dangle...

If you have the money I would definitely suggest getting retros. I love my gen 3's, but the quality is crap. I regret buying them and not saving my money to go the retrofit route.

I don't regret the $600 I paid making my retros. This includes new TYC headlights, EvoX-R projectors, Philips 85122 D2S bulbs, premium Apollo 2.0 Flat shrouds, and XBALED Halo rings to go inside the shrouds. I also have the halo rings hooked up to a relay that is fused tapped to the DRL fuse slot. So it runs as my DRLs. With a diode plugged into the bottom fuse slot of the fuse tap, the halos stay on with the low beams. They go out with the high beams, but there's really no point trying to make them stay on for that. Been running this setup for a year now and it's the best "tunnel of daylight" I've had so far.

With the Depo Gen 4 lights, you should be able to use the Retro-Quik for Spyder/Spec-D lights from The Retrofit Source and swap those crappy halogen projectors out for some Mini H1 bi-xenon projectors. Then you get the advantage of both bi-xenon high beams and halogen high beams. Not only that, but the Mini-H1 projectors distribute the light better and have a wider beam.
