Headlights, Halo's and I'm stupid.

Here's the deal, I was driving to Brooklyn on Thursday along 278 and the Belt Parkway and I saw a badass red Cobalt SS Sadan with a nice set of Halo type head lights and i decided to look into them (Kudo's to the owner if they are one here btw). The more i read the more confused I am... I'm not much of a car tech guy so I'm going to need a little help here. I searched around the forums and I'm confused by all the jargon.

Ok here's the situation. I have a 07 Cobalt LT coupe, it's mostly stock other then Neon's under the seats and LED's in the cup holders. Now i want get a set of these halo lights, but i know NOTHING about them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts...ayphotohosting Those are the ones i want, I've seen them on a few members cars and they look amazing. I love how the rings stay lit during the day then the whole thing comes on at night *sigh* i want them.

Time for questions:

1: Do i need new bulbs or are they included or can i use the bulbs that are in my car now?
2: What happens when one of the LED's or bulbs burn out? How do I replace them?
3: What are these? HID/Projectors? What's the difference?

Sorry about ignorance, like i said i was looking around but its confusing for a newb.

HALO headlights are a awesome thing.

No, you dont need new bulbs, as they come with some. (You go from Stock 9007's to H1/H3(depending on the design of the halos)).

If they burn out you can replace them. You just buy a replacement LED, and wire them up in the old ones place.

HID = High Intensity Discharge = BMW lights...or Xenon Headlights.

Projectors = They "project" the light more efficiently.

You can have HID's in the projectors which will make the road really bright. Alot of members on here do that.

I hope this helped you.

in addition to the above, the headlights in the link you provided are projector halos. HID is the bulb in the headlight (and the separate power adaptor a.k.a. ballast) whereas the halo projectors are the headlight housing itself

HIDS should be more than 20 bucks. A vendor on here sells HIDS for $120. You were probably lookin at bulbs that are suppose to "look" like HID.
HID kit has its own bulb and ballast, the HID kit I got came with a relay which will hook up to your battery post. The relay is then connected to the ballast which will connect to your bulb giving you the light.

Oh and BTW; because you have an 07, your DRL's will not be the halo rings, it will be the low-wattage high beams. You can, however, turn on the halo's during the day by simply turning your parking lights on.

Well that's a little disappointing, is there a reason for this or any work around? To be honest I'm lazy and forgetful and will probably forget to ever turn on my parking lights. I keep my head lights set to automatic.

You know to select the parking lights all you have to is turn the selector up a notch, right?

Yea, I'm aware of that, but to have to do that every time i get in and out of the car so my parking lights/halo's light up is a bit annoying. I'm not going to remember to do that. I'm so used to automatic head lights i never think about them anymore.

its not needed, no. Projectors can use a normal halogen bolb like what you have stock and not require the ballast/power adaptor, however, if you want the HID bulbs, then you will need the ballasts

That's very good news because i can't afford HID's at the moment they seem very expensive. So last question, does anyone know how to hook up the halo rings to my day time running lights so I dont have to be bothered with turning on my parking lights?

so i take the HID bulb with the kit and attach it to the 3 holes in the headlight or what? does someone have a picture or can they circle where the HID bulb would go on the halo headlight itself?

the HID bulb would replace the regular halogen bulb. either 1 of the 2 locations (one for lows and one for high beams)
