Headlights Questions

I am doing the painted headlight mod that everybody is doing but i had a few questions.
One question is,

Is the bulb inside of the headlight before modification, orange or clear?

I have seen a few posts on this site that are claiming that when they upgrade their bulbs in their headlights the bulbs are burning out very quickly or that the bulbs are buring out the stock cobalt wiring can anybody confirm this?

Also any other advise that anybody can give me will be appreciated.

its a clear bulb with orange lens in front of it.

try a sylvania bulb that looks very light bluish and lights up orange in it's place.

weird, i would think that with an orange lens over it, they'd be using a clear bulb that produces white light, and then the orange lens tints the color...

someone jump in and save the day on this one

might just be because its eBay, it's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're actually going to get.
