Help me do HID's right.

So I figured with all this HID talk lately I'd try and make a thread that explains the best way to do up the HIDs the best way.. the problem is I know nothing about HIDs lol so I was hoping someone here would be nice enough to school me.

1: HIDs on DRL is a bad thing right? I heard people say that pulling the DRL fuse fixes the problem but is that really the best way? Is there anyway to keep DRL and still have HIDs?

2: What is the wattage we need for bi-xenon HIDs, I heard it was 35/55, true?

3: What is an HID relay, where do we get them, and do we need them for our cars?

4: in order of bad to good for headlights. Stock is a big no-no, eBay Projectors are ok, and retrofits are number one. Is that accurate?

5: I'd love to color match the HIDs to my switchback LEDs, what would you say 5000k? (pic in sig)

Any other tips would totally helpful for me and I'm sure others too. I'm starting to prepare to buy some HIDs in the coming future and I want to do this up right because it's going to be almost $500 between retrofits and HIDs.

Oh, last question, anyone in NJ make retrofits? I'd rather not ship headlights because last time I had to do that it cost me $90.

If you have an 05-06 you need not worry about this at all but... you can always just pull the fuse and turn on your fogs and have them be DRL's. This will also turn on your taillights... but it's a simple wiring job to manually power your fogs so your tails don't come on. Some guys with HID's will just run them all the time to avoid them going on and off because of our crappy ambient light sensor.

i have a question... if you put HID's in your stock head lights... will your DRL be dimmed like it is on stock bulbs and be all the way on at night or will it be full on all the time?

Here is a nice diagram with light explanation for people with Generation 1, 2, 3 Projectors, and want to put HIDs in them.

Yes, 07 + need to have the DRL fuse pulled, or a relay installed for longevity of HID bulbs and ballasts.

If HIDs are going in foglights, a relay needs to be used with at least 1 side, as each ballast can draw up to 10.2 amps, and the foglights are only fused at 15 amps.

I have HIDs in my lows and fogs, had them installed for about a year and they're not running on a relay and I've never once blown a fuse, even with the fogs.
