Help....PLEASE !!!

I just killed one of my 17 inch polished alloy wheels and Pirelli tire. I took a newly constucted street corner too sharp and clubbed the curb with my rear rim/tire. I was only doing 15-20 mph but mangled it good. I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT TO DO. My deductable is $500 but dont want to claim it for the increase it will cause. I can get a new rim locally for $560. I also made an appointment with a alloy wheel repair specialist, but am skeptical. The other issue I have is the tire. It has a big chunk out of the side wall. I dont think it can be repaired but is holding air as we speak, 1 hour later. Man this SUCKS. My car only has 700 miles on it. Who has just one used rim, in almost new condition for sale??? I bet no-one. If so, PM me PLEASE. Any suggestions on how to repair/replace this without spending a fortune. lemme know, huh?????

if it has a chunk it wont matter if its holding air, take a corner or travel at high speed and that tire will blow!, my advice, invest in new rubber, or you might need to replace alot more then just a wheel!

indeed. I am afraid to drive it. Just found a used rim on ebay, not sure of condition and would take 2 weeks to arrive. Calling around now for a new shoe. THIS SUCKS.........................

How many miles on the tires? You may be able to claim it as road hazard...not sure if GM warranties your tires beyond the standard 1 yr / 12k miles. (don't think they even go that far on ss/sc tires, but yours should be all-season)

All else fails, just shop around the local tire shops. You will definitely want to get a tire for the other side, too, unless you've only got a couple thousand or less miles on them.

well, I did not think about that. I only have 700 miles on it. Reading thru my warranty and Pirelli warranty, it looks like they would call this an "accident" an not cover it. Anyone here work at a dealership and know of anything I could do?

Dude I Would Put The Mini Spare On Until You Get It Worked Out...even Though It Says Temporary Use It Is Still Safer Than The One That's On There

Clicky.

That is what tirerack.com wants for a replacement OE tire. A local tire shop should be able to give you a similar price...

Lol...... yeah, I guess that would help. I am 41 and almost forgot. I also just found out that two other cars in my girls family hit that same curb last week. It is designed poorly. They expanded an intersection in town here where they should not have. Thanks for the laugh tho. My 68 year old father accused me of "jamming tunes, smoking a bowl, drinking a beer and not paying attention". FYI.... I am putting the donut on. I just have to drive the thing a little and dont trust it. I do have a set of steelie 16 inchers I am still wondering if I could use temporarily. It may take me a week to resolve this.

Wow thats gotta hurt!!!

I find the wheels to be very strong but then again I'm on 17's ... I would trade you all four of mine for the 3 of yours you got left due to the fact the damn wheels are sooooo expensive

I'm thankful I've only hit a big hole head on and had the tire take the brunt of it... But ya bummer man

Unless your 16" steelies are from another Cobalt or Ion, they probably won't fit. The bolt pattern is pretty uncommon.

Personally, I find the stock wheels to be soft as butter. I hit a pot hole that went across the entire road (like an expansion joint was missing) - the tires survived and ALL of the wheels were ruined. I sold 2 of them to a local wheel shop, but they will have to be straightened before he can sell them.

I bought 4 AR wheels for less than 1 stock alloy (not to mention I trust AR better). I figure that if I kill 1 of the new wheels it is cheap to replace compared to living with the outrageously overpriced Chevy wheels.

Hope you sort this out - I agree with the posts about finding 4 used 17 or 18 inch with tires, or I suggest going to the local tire/wheel store and looking into a full set of aftermarket wheels and 1 tire to get you back on the road.

notice the chunk out of the tire? I did this at 20 mph. Quite a few cars have hit the same curb. New construction in town and I think they were smoking ass crack. UPDATE............ I bought a new tire and had it mounted on a used rim from eBay. I rate the rim a 9 and I polished the crap out of it so it would not stick out. My car has only 750 miles and the used one was in need of some work. All in all it cost me $250. Not bad since I did not have to claim it on my insurance. Still bummed everytime I look at that replacement rim tho.
