help remove mirror glass

Can anyone tell me how I might get the glass off of the side view mirror. There is a plastic lip covering the glass about 1/16in around the entire mirror.

I had mine broken once, and just ordered a whole new side mirror so I didn't have to mess with it haha. Why are you taking it out?

Hell yeah. Well, I'm bored anyway so I'll search around for you. But as of right now I'm not sure how it comes out, or if it even does!

The rim is pretty east to cut off with a dremel, can you think of anything that I could put along the edge after I finish to make it look nice?

so I cut the rim off, now I think I just need to head over to the hardware store to see what I can put on the edge. Is there such a thing as heatshrink edging?

^^^never heard of it. If I were you I would be looking for rubber weatherstripping or something a long those lines. If need be, you could put adhesive to get the initial hold then heat it up for a better fit.

I can't say for sure it'd work, but I hope it helps.

I tried putting that trim along the edge and it looks really good, until I get to one of the curves then it just starts bowing and folding. What do you guys think of just doing a 1/4in border of plasti-dip?

Put it in the oven... see if it becomes pliable.

You could always use that DIY bedliner. It'd be more expensive because I think they only sell it in gallons but it would be better than plasti dip

I never thought of that, I already bought the plastidip but if it doesn't last I'll give the liner a shot.

Glad to see you got it figured out (for the most part). Got sidetracked, sorry!
