Hid

so is there a difference in the color of the hid if there are a different brand ... because some say 12k is purple and some say its blue if yall could post some pictures if yall have 12k hid
Theres honestly no need to go beyond 4700k. though I have 6k 35watt and wish they were slightly brighter but they are very bright. Couldnt imagine going to a darker higher k rating.
The way I understand it, and I could be wrong, the highest light output is between 4300k and 5000k, with anything over that getting lower and lower. I also heard that 3000k is lower output then 4300k but because it's yellow in color it actually helps your eyes see in bad weather... not sure if that's true or not. I also think that all manufacturers have a slightly different color scale and it also depends on what kind of enclosure (reflectors vs projectors) and wattage rating (35w vs 55w).
Anyways, I'm running DDM 5000k 35w in my fogs and retrofits and they are mostly white with just a slight tint of blue.

Its the only picture I have right now.

If you look at the wavelength in the above chart, you will see as the light approaches the blue spectrum, the waves shorten. This makes for a much more compacted wave. This means that the light is more susceptible to bounce off rather than stick to something. This is due to the increased angle of deflection.
The further to the yellow side you get, the waves are longer. These waves hit surfaces much more directly and deflect less. That is why the lower K light seems to pierce better and be more usable.
This is the simplest I can explain it.
Its like skipping a rock off a surface, versus throwing it directly in the water.
