Question HID Help

I searched but couldn't find anything relivant! I'm looking into buying an HID kit, so I was wondering if I need to get a relay kit or can I do without it? I have an 09 balt. Will it affect the DRL or what...?

Most HID kits come with the relay harness. Yes you should use it. Pull the fuse for DRL's.

^^^ x2 - Use a relay harness if you value your stock wiring, and pull the DRL fuse if you value your ballasts

First step in the HID install is to pull the DRL so it doest cause problems
Relay harnesses are not need but are Highly Recommended to protect your factoryy wiring and the bulbs/ballasts

I ran without a relay for 6 months, never doing that again. Get a relay and pull your DRL fuse.

Yeah I am completely with you. I never had a problem with out running a relay harness for a good year and a half. The only reason why I did finally upgrade was because over time they start to get harder to ignite, which the stock wiring has a hard time doing, and then you get one or both bulbs not being able to start up correctly. The relay harness will fix that issue by supplying battery voltage all the time.. I did my relay more for a preventive maintenance.. but hey my bulbs went out after a week of having the relays.. switched the bulbs and ballasts with BUYHIDS... and bam all better.

Oh and still havent pulled the DRL fuse. I have a habit of just flicking the switch to off when driving in the day so the bulbs dont ignite at all when I start the car... to me Id rather just keep the fuse and actually lift my hand and use it instead of being lazy and not having DRLs all the time. I like it when at night I drop the ebrake and my lights kick on.

Well i had hids before but got rid of them.beacuse the driver side hid would always turn on for a split second and than turn off,and blow the fuse.

????
I start my car in underground parking where it's relatively dark. I take it that I can't start the car without the lights comming on at first ? I turn mine off after start up (no HIDS yet). I take it there's no way to prevent this without pulling the DRL fuse?

"I like it when at night I drop the ebrake and my lights kick on"

SO........correct me if I'm wrong....
I don't think you have a choice on having em turn on when it's dark...e brake has nothing to do with it.

Using your own relays isn't that big of an issue. You can get them at radioshack pretty cheaply and you only need one. As far as whose HID kit it is, it doesn't really make that much of a difference unless you're going between analog and digital ballasts. They're all pretty much the same kit. If you need help on wiring your own relays, just ask.
