oh you said you like the 3k's but not the 5k's.

what color would you say they give off in comparison to factory hid's (like on beamers and lexuss? white with a hint of blue?

ive had 3k, 5k, 6k, 8k and i have a buddy with 10k and he had 12k lol..

closest to factory "looking" is either 5k or 6k hands down...5k doesnt have as bad of a glare on it as the rest....

5k's white with a hint of blue and 6k is about half and half and 8k is blue with a hint of white lol...

so much useless information on this thread til the last posting.

4300k is OEM.

Blue comes from the PROJECTOR itself, not the bulbs.

Anything above 6k and it's like driving with candlesticks at night during the rain

NEVER put HID's in a halogen housing. Your light output is worse and scatters since the bulb is designed for a PROJECTOR not a HALOGEN housing. You loose high beams too.

Retrofit or bust (I don't wanna hear "whaaaaI don't have the $")

Save up the money and do it right and once. It's not that freakin expensive.

Any other takers?

and the rumor about yellow lights cutting through fog better is completely false.

it's easier on your eyes than blue lighting (4300k and above).

white is just as effective as yellow.

LOL, at least you're still in the line of visible light.

yellow makes it easier to not fatigue the eye than blue light.

I just prefer the white look.

I wuv you too, no homo.

^^ then you're wasting your $$ on senseless set ups.

either:

A) roll around in halogen bulbs until you get projectors

THEN

get HIDs for them in the projectors (which have worse light output than stock housings)

or

B) continue to waste your money since the projectors use different size bulbs than OEM housings.

Your money.

You can donate $5 since I saved you some dough to my paypal addy.

Anyone else?

spouting off my mouth? LOL

Ok, enjoy your tiny high beam bulbs that do nothing for you but look like city lights.

Try out bi-xenon.

Works wonders.

I know my research, I know my stuff.

Anything I should know?

im not trying to impress to you...i dont even know you..but saying you lose high beams with hid's is stupid....

hid's in stock housing's do cut the light output but when their brighter then stock who care's? its all about how you do it...gotta aim them a tad bit lower then stock so you dont blind people...

this slobalt ISNT my first car to be modified...going on number 3 now (if you knew my car's youd know why its only 3)...

Put HID in stock housings if you want. Its your car. I'd say get gen 4s over anything else. Unless you have a money tree then get retrofits.

I have 5000k in my car, they are almost pure white. I currently have them in the stock housing but just ordered retro-fit headlights last week so cut me a break. The one thing I notice with HIDs in stock housing is that they don't seem to project as far as normal headlight bulbs... for the distance they go they are insanely bright though.

in all fairness some cars are worse than others as far as glare goes...the Cobalt is definitely not the worst but it's still not good enough to be acceptable. Grand Cherokees are some of the worst I've ever seen.
