HID's are they worth it?
So, I am talking to some persons on this forum about buying true HID projector setup. What is the Color temp everybody is running, and do you guys thing HID retrofits are worth it or should I spend my money elsewhere?
If you're going to do HID's, spend the extra to do retrofits. They look way better and will last longer than the ebay projectors. And you wont have to worry about the LEDs/halos burning out constantly (I've had them, believe me, they suck). Honestly when I think about it, even though the HID's look great, I kinda wish I had just stayed with stock halogens because it would've saved a TON of headaches. Just my .02
i have 3rd gen projectors, just put in 10k hids saturday, they are AMAZING. ive already ordered 3K hids for my fogs. the 10k is a pretty blue and shines very wide and bright, although the install was a pain in the ass. all was easy until securing the damn bulb in the housing, stupid generic plastic piece that is like a freakin puzzle to put back
ugh
sorry for that

I"ve had 1st gen projectors with 10K HIDS for about a year. Install wasn that hard, took about an hour in total to run all the wires, and figure how to install the bulb correctly. They do look great, but I lost some visibility at night because I'm too lazy to aim the projectors.
i got 2nd gen projectors with 12k hid and they are nice blue with great light output def worth getting man total costed me about 240 canadian....(brand new projectors in box and brand new hid kit)
Aftermarket projectors second choice but they seem to have some quality issues.
HID's in stock reflector housings? Please don't, the world does not need any more rice
6k would be my choice for colour temperature but I am more concerned with being able to see than appearance.
You want bluish, go 8 or 10, really blue to almost purple go 12+ but be warned - the higher the k number the lower the light output, and some police departments are pretty hard ass on blue looking lights. Don't need to give them any excuses for pulling you over
Bixenon retrofit ftw, you simply will not get better usable light output from what I have seen both in the forums and on the road.

do you like seeing at night? HID's are hands down the best headlight, but I would recommend a projector, maybe with a cutoff if you dont like being annoyed by ppl flashing or cops.
that depends how hot is she.
oh hids not hiv.

yeah they're worth it i couldn't stand my stock lighting, ultrastars didn't help either and wasted 50 dollars of mine (when hid's can be had for 20 dollars more).

i didnt read the rest of the posts, but i bought my 06 ss with hid's installed. i always hated the things before i had them, just to see them coming from the opposite direction. i have 10k headlight and foglights now, and they seem so worth it to me, driving at night is so different you can see the road and signs at least 10x better. id say they are worth it.
How is that rice? If you ask me, the riciest headlights are the aftermarket projectors. They look cheap and there's so much **** going on with the halos and the leds all over the place.
