d2s bulbs are for HID projector housings (different connectors). I have them on my retro fits that I sold to Billig (2nd post in this thread).

so could i put them in gen 3's? or are they the retrofit bulbs?

and if i can put them in gen 3's what makes them more expensive than just the H1 bulbs?

The housing support that the bulbs go in to need to line up. They wont and can't fit in h1 sockets.

The reason they are more expensive is due to their connections to the HID ballast. there are 2 "special" wires that run from the back of the d2s connection that hook up to the ballasts.

if you don't know what you're doing expect to put 50 hours into them.

d2s bulbs are true hid bulbs that are typicaly found in oem hid applications. They will only fit in retrofits.

I equate hid's in stock housings to rice because they don't do anything other than blind oncoming traffic unless you aim them so low they are useless as headlights. At this point they are decoration only, "Look at me, I got HID's just like the expensive cars!!!!" Big whoop

Not going to argue on the aftermarket projectors - you can get better light out of them and they do serve a purpose in that regard - but I agree that they look cheap (because they are) and the halos and leds are too much.
Are they rice? Maybe. Do I like them myself? Not really. Would I mod a set to eliminate the halos / leds? Screw that, for the work involved, I will do bixenon retros

I completely agree with you that retros are the way to. It's just money that I don't want to spend right now. In the long run I'll be getting them but for now it's HIDs in stock black housings.

A couple of members on here make them...If you want to invest the time and effort you could attempt them yourself, there is a how to on here in the how to section. As for a price refence mine cost 400usd plus my stockers. I have seen them being sold anywhere between 400-600 but let me tell you it is well worth it! or like I said, 200-300$ worth of parts and you could make your own

I don't mean to pick on you, but it's right in the owners manual or you can search here.
