High Wing Spoiler + Car Wash

So I just checked and I didn't see any sort of threads here but I have the high wing spoiler on my car and needless to say I'm a little nervous about bringing it to the car wash. It's only a piece of plastic and it doesn't really seem to be bolted to the trunk all that securely so I'm curious if anyone has actually brought it to the car wash and had problems? My car is absolutely filthy and I live in an apartment building so I don't really have a hose and water hook up or even a driveway (not that that part concerns me).

Use a touchless wash, avoid washes with scrubbers. They will scratch your paint.

Dude its bolted AND has about a square foot of super strong adhesive holding it on there. That ****** isnt coming off! Although soap usually gets stuck in that long indentation on the underside of the wing. So I dont advise auto wash bays.

Doesn't feel that secure to me and I try to be very gentle with it. I should call up Oakley's in Yonkers and see what they use.

My friend use to take his through a car wash every week when he had it. Never had a problem. High speed driving is more likely to rip it off the car then a car wash.

just take the time to clean your car yourself. always looks better then at a carwash in my opinion and you know its done right

Perhaps you didn't see first post fully. Unless I find someone with a hose and/or driveway who is willing to let me use their water I'm SOL.

This is the first car I've owned with one, especially such a high one, so I really am happy to see the positive response. I would still rather take it to a touchless car wash anyway, it's a black car, and I don't want any possibility of scratches. It isn't blemish-free but the less there are the easier it will be to buff out whenever I get around to that, maybe towards the end of summer.

Free is definitely good. No reason to pass up free things, especially not now!

my bad i missed that when i was reading it. i dont know about where you live but around me there is a car wash called white glove where you put in quarters and it gives you a hose and a soap nozzle to clean your car. but back on topic the high rise should be fine

They have something to that effect down at the BP station actually but I like having options.

the only problem with touchless is they don't get the back of the car very well the wing gets in the way

as far as coming off not a chance 120 and a stupid crow didn't do it

But make sure to watch it first...don't go to one where the water pressure is ridiculous not only for your spoiler but seals, any badges, clear on the rims, etc. There's one near me with so much water pressure if you had one flake it would blow the paint clear off so I've always avoided it. Just my .02.

Depends on the drag co-efficient of your body.

Ever try taking one off? It took a heat gun, adhesive remover and a SHITLOAD of elbow grease to break that bastard loose. Trust me. That thing isnt going anywhere. And besides if the car wash does rip it off they'll have to pay for it.
