hmmm engine cleaning? "gunk?"

I found a full can of "gunk engine bright" in my basement and want to know if it will clean my engine well, my engine has 60,000Miles worth of "****" all over it, spilled oil, grease dirt, smear you name it. Will this stuff I found make it aluminum colour again? if not how do I make it look good again

run the car so the engine is moderately warm to the touch. if it's hot, let it cool down.

lightly spray the engine bay down with a hose.

dilute some Simple Green in a spray bottle (3 parts water, 1 part simple green)

spray down the engine bay and underneath with the simple green, basically whatever you can get to. let it sit for 15 minutes. spray off lightly with a hose and it's clean.

Only use the engine brite degreaser on metal parts. you don't want that stuff to get on your wires and electrical connectors. it is typically only used on an engine that has been removed from the car with all the electrical stuff removed. Also for cleaning parts like the oil pan and valve cover, etc when removed from the vehicle. don't ever spray down your engine bay with that stuff. it is far too corrosive.

if you insist on using it on the engine while it's in the car, first apply it to a rag instead of spraying it directly.
