How do you get rid of the front bowtie?

How do you get rid of the front bowtie?
I want to get rid of the front bowtie and the little midde bar that holds it on. I hate it I think it looks horrible (my opinion) I want to get rid of it and put in a mesh grill. I also am having trouble locating where to find a mesh grill , I have some material I could use to make my own and that's probably what I will end up doing but just wondering .

It's held on by two nuts. You just gotta reach behind with a 10MM socket if I remember right.
The thing is though, it's not pretty behind it. It's flat with a bunch of holes. So unless you're good with bodywork, it won't look much better.
