What size LED rings did you use for the double ring mod?

This really isn't that hard of a mod to.do. Ive got leds in the inner tails already. It only took me about two hours to do them from start to.finish and about $5 worth of parts from mouser electronics. The outer tails and brake light are coming up as soon as I can get some time from this holiday season to.sit down and do them. If you are good at wiring its really an easy mod.

I have these tail lights and this weekend I plan on doing a trial on installing the LED ring from the outer light into the inner light. Has anyone ever done this by any chance? These lights are a bitch to open up (much harder than stock), and unlike the outers (I have 2 sets), I cannot destroy the inners because they are going back on the car...

best thing to do is use heat, but not too much, leave them in the over at the lowest setting for 20 minutes, be very careful though. idk what type of plastic that is on those lights you've got.

I've thought about doing that myself since I already have those lights...but that would require me to buy another set. And I'm lazy.

I'll try with heat this weekend...I had to destroy one of the outers to get the LED ring out. Still looks to me like this will fit. It would look awesome if it does since the LED's would be equally big. The way these lights are put together seems like they're fused or something. At least I'll have two inners to mess up since I got 4 in total...
Will update later.

Haha. Well I actually haven't bought the second set yet either. Wanna make sure this works first. They're under $100 on Ebay though.

Update:

Got my first aftermarket reverse light disassembled. Mother ******! Those things are literally FUSED together. You can either keep the lens or keep the back fitting if you dremel the other side to hell. But the good news is it looks like this is going to work. Ordered my second set of these tails today, hopefully I can finish the project next weekend. To be continued..!

YES! Lights are sealed up and done and in the car!!

They are now:

* running lights
* brake lights
* blinkers
* backup lights (white)

just like I wanted. It's too late and I'm too tired for pics, so you'll have to wait until I can post those later. Our club has a big ass meet tomorrow, so plenty of opportunities to take pictures there. I'll try and post em up soon.

They look great as far as I've been able to tell, I love how they look identical to the outer lights in the dark, and so, since they're not "Skyline" tails, I think I'll dub them "Ferrari" tails lol

They were an absolute bitch to do so I doubt I will be making these for anyone, but I'll be happy to do a how to later

@ mrader88: Sure am, probably saw you there lol

@yapster: Awesome, looks good, didn't know if anyone had done this before or not. What did you use to do your 3rd LED brake light?

Here are some pics I took today at 5280Cobalts' meet. I actually used LED's for the reverse lights as well.
