Good luck man , major props to ya . Customizing is fun and Im really interested to see what do with it in the Cobalt light . when I did my Astra's that gen 5 series is almost what I chose . I have tricks in my bag for my next set too , hehe .

Also some tips for you should u be modding the grey headlamp housing . Choose your adhesives wisely if u make changes to it . Its made out of of fiber filled polypropelene and its quite hard to get anything to bond permenantly to it ....the fiberglass holds but if u try to it will break free and peel off . The center bezel is made from this type of plastic too . I know your really good at fabbing and know ur **** , plastics are the industry I work in and poly is EVIL to work with so I figured I make a mention in case u didnt know .

3M scotch bond is the only thing on the market that will bond poly .

I would use that to anchor your fabbed portions then do the shaping with fiberglass or heat formed ABS .

Cant wait to see em

i appreciate the tips. im just basically going to completely gut the headlight out and go from there. it shouldn't be bad at all just alot of tedious sanding later on. it's going to be all fiber glass so i don't plan on having any adhesive etc. problems. i'll keep you guys updated.

i luv taking **** apart. it's cool too see the insides of these lights. i always thought that bmw halos of this kind just had the ring with leds on the ends etc. but they actually use a network of fiberoptic cable with bulbs lighting the ends which then eventually connect to the halos. it's really fascinating **** lol

hahaha , Im the same way . That interesting , I knew they werent leds , but I though they just used small incandescent bulbs at the tube ends . I wanna see inside the 08 and newer ones . Not sure what they did , but the halos are about 10 times brighter and its not a ccfl like alot of people think . The active forward lighting controllers were crazy in my Astra lights , I wish I coulda used them but they were controlled by way to many sensors throughtout the car and the reference signal for the motors was a GMLan pulse signal . Pretty interesting nonethe less though .

What projector is that style 5 series lamp ?

but of course i want to get these done as soon as possible. today i took the black trim out of the rest of the headlights ( with the 3 circles cut out) . im gonna use it so i don't have to cut mounting rings , it's already done for me lol. i then cut alot of excess off around them and sanded them a little bit. i checked the fitment just by holding it above the stock lights and it looks like it's gonna fit perfect without any modifactions as to the width. hopefully i'll pick up another pair of stock headlights so i can really get this going.

if i had the time and the know-how that some of you guys had i would definitely do something like this, but knowing me i would probably just screw something up royally. i can understand why having an extra set of lights would be nice, but i would still be pissed knowing i screwed something up. haha... good luck with the project. i enjoy seeing the stuff you guys turn out.
