Info needed for trunk swap? Trunk removal?

What is all involved in trading trunks? Is it hard to keep my locking mechanism? I am going to trade trunks very soon and just want to know if it is pretty easy to do? How long will it take? what tools are needed?

It should only take about 15-20 to swap trunks. Dont remember what size sockets you need but that about it. Taking out the lock prolly took me the longest but its not all that hard to do.

trunk swap complete

there is just a few easy electrical clips and then there is one clip that holdslock in place . it was pretty easy. the clip on the lock just pulls to the side and then the lock can be pulled out of the outside of the trunk, and presto your done. the electrical was just clipped on with plastic clips and after they are all loosened the wiring harness just feeds through the holes in the trunk. pull out of your trunk then unbolt the lid and swap and your done.

we tried for a long time to get it, and we couldn't get it off, the one side of the clip broke, and it still wouldn't come out....

I helped bluestage2 do the trunk swap... the clips are threaded like a screw, but just push through the holes and then flare out a bit. We found that you could use a pair of needle nose pliers to squeeze the clips and then push them back through the holes. You might squish the clips a bit in this process, but it doesnt hurt how they go back in. Worst case scenario take a pair of side cutters we had to do that to one that just didnt want to co-operate

I can't figure out how the clip comes off of the attachment right by the lock. It is some time of electrical connector I have never seen. How do you get it off. Getting the lock out was easy and all of the other electrical stuff is easy too.

lol that thing was a PITA... i belive the release is on the side farthest from you and you have to have it "released" while pulling.

oh the bolt size is 10mm or 11mm (im pretty sure its 10)
