Installing automatic windows 2006 LS
Installing automatic windows 2006 LS
I just bought a used 2006 LS. It has manual windows and mirrows. I'm assuming the mirrors shouldnt be that hard to replace but I'm worried about installing automatic windows. I have a feeling its just a matter of swapping out the interior liner then installing the window motor and running the wires to the engine or what have you.
If anyone can give me some guidance I would appreciate it.

I've been looking into this, I've got an 07 LS, and I found a kit with power locks too on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.ca/4-DOOR-POWER-WIND...742.m153.l1262
Good luck, tell us how it goes.. a how to would be great too!

Yall didn't mention whether it was for a coupe or a sedan. And thanks Bitchy for the plug
I've done the kit and posted pics in my garage of the install. If you need a walkthrough, I can help with that.

Hey chad,
I did a 2 door myself. I guess if you want all four doors done, you need to decide on switch location. personally I didn't care for the switch housing on the 4 door set. I do believe the kits have 3 different types of switches to choose from. On the two door set, I chose the smallest switches, i.e. #1.

theres a website for buying gm parts and i can't think of it, what im lookin for is the part that goes on the door which has the power locks/window buttons. I'm putting in power windows into my ls coupe and and trying to find the appropriate pieces to make it stock.
thanks matt.
thanks matt.
Numpy, if your going with stock switches, your gonna have to replace the entire door panel. The arm rest isnt long enough for the factory switches on the base model. Plus you dont want the window crank hole visible with the stock switches, and you wont have anything to fill the hole up with. Thats one side note thats good with the kits. they provide the essential covers for those holes. Jeez I sound like a frickin vendor, lol. For the record: I have no ties to ANYONE who sells anything for cobalt or on Ebay. I only offer my help to those who are looking to add the same kind of kit to their cars. To those of you who are doing this or considering this: rather than tie up the threds with questions, feel free to pm me and since i'm on here daily, I will be more than happy to help any way I can.

Hey Ya'll
I bought a universal power window kit for my 06 cobalt LS, its REALLY easy to install. BUTTTTT one of the motors I bought was DOA. BOOo
So I sent the whole kit back.
I'll be putting a how too on here when i get the new kit back. Honestly the hardest spot is finding a god spot to put the switches, I picked on my center console at the top next to the cig lighter. Nice hidden and clean. Anyways. Pictures soon to come. VEryyyyy easy to install.

But in the end, it's an easy install and depending on your kit is teh preformance you get.
pictures will come when the install is complete, still waiting on new motors.
Kay got the windows Installed. not hard at all. I've got pictures taken and it was quiet easy.
Now this isn't a normal power window motor kit, it's a motor that attaches to your current crank and that's what it uses to put the window up and down. works alot faster then a normal kit too.
my biggest warning is careful what you connect the power up to on the car, it can blow something kinda like what I did.. it was a pain in the ass but I fixed it and now my windows are hooked directly up to the battery which means I can use them even when the car is off.
I put my switched in the center console beside the cigarette lighter under the cd player area.
I'll post picks soon and if you have any questions just msg me
