Question, what prep work are you doing to the surface before painting?

But Ummm...... 130 dollars?????

130 dollars would be reasonable if you painted them the color of the car with the actual paint coded paint. Come on..
why do you always have to flame people? i mean you flamed me because i wanted to get so called "escalade" rims on my cobalt and now you're flaming wikkymaster because he wants to do US a service...wikky i think its a good idea man..because not many people would have the patience to do that.i mean who has the time right?

Yes Venom, you are right. $130 shipped is not a bad price. There is a days worth of labor on the colored headlights to do it right. Colormatched would be more expensive. AND that $130 is w/ shipping back to you (5-10 bucks, but so what). There is no harm in paying someone to do you a service, everyone can cook for cheap, but restuarants still make business. It's a matter of prefernce. If they sold colormatched too. I'd be paying right now. I bought an extra set of lights off of ebay ($120), bought primer ($3), bought the colormatched paint (15$ for a pint), bought an airbrush kit I was told would spray the paint ($35), had to buy foam brushes to prototype the lights ($1.50), now I am paying my friend $50 just to mask the bezels and paint them at his shop. That total's near $200 in PARTS, not my labor to take it apart, and put it back together. $130 to have someone who has done it do mine, yeah, I'd be game if I was looking for black.

frank- i think he means actual projectors in the lights, no way can i do that lol! all i know how to do is paint the inside and take out the amber corner and for dark age- i just give em 3 or 4 good coats of high temp flat black, no need for prep work, ive had no problems with mine yet, color is still as good as it was when i first did them

Is there anyway that I can get the internals of mine carbon fiber wrapped? I think it would be so badass if I could get that done.

I know it costs more, but take them to a respectible paint shop that does auto work, NOT a dealer, and they should be able to paint the headlights to the specified color. Mine are costing me $50 a set to paint, but thats with them sanding, masking, priming, painting, and clearcoating the assembly.

You might want to think about sanding and using self etching primer before painting. If you were just doing them for yourself it wouldn't be a big deal but you're selling your service, that could be a big deal if there's some future problem with the paint lifting. Here's a simple test, take some 2" masking tape and press it on the black painted surface and give it a good yank...there's a good chance the black paint will come off the plastic chrome.

It's great that you want to do these but I was just trying to point out what could become a problem ( not saying there will be a problem ), good luck.

I agree with wanting my lights back but $130 dollars for a custom one off headlight job isn't a lot of money. You got to make it worth his time. Otherwise if he wanted to make peanuts he could just get a mindless job at a fast food place.
