Exclamation Interior Advise needed please help me!

Ok with all my new found time off because of being layed off this morning I have finally started working on my interior. As you can see I got the rear seat and passenger seats done and all the tan plastic on the bottom of the seats has been painted.

Tomorrow Im gonna start on the drivers seat and reupholstering the back deck black. The advise I need is what to do with the doors. I dont want to paint them because Ive never had good luck with paints durability over time and this is my daily driver. And I need to hide the window crank shaft now that I installed power windows. Plus there is a small crack in the door panel right at the end of the upholstered part that I would like to cover up.

My ideas were to go ahead and paint them black and change the center part to red and build a fiberglass speaker pod to cover up the crack and the crank. But the cheaper option was to upholster the entire door panel probably black suede and do the center section in red. This would cover up the crack and I could make a cover for the crank that would make it not nearly as noticeable. The only problem I have with this is im not sure how hard this would be to do. If anyone has done this please let me know how hard it is and how it looks.

Seat looks good, glad to see you are getting the seat covers on. I would definitly try something different on the panels if possible, i like the black suede idea personally. I also like the idea of fiberglass door pods but that will definitly be some work, hope you got lots of patience, lol... The panels can be painted, but some form of prep work will have to be done. I have heard there is a plastic prep kit that allows you to just paint the plastic as it is, but i have never used it. Also i personally like when the plastic is smoothed before painting, i think it looks best like that. Good luck with it...

The main thing that im concerned about with the suede idea is what to do about pocket in the bottom of the door. Somehow that would either have to be filled in or upholstered without leaving wrinkles. Oh and brian you like the head rests seeing as how they are the original gray ones

great job so far

those are the Sport Cloth seats... its an upgrade for us lower level balts lol... umm i would honestly wait and offer in the classifieds to BUY someones door panels... it will save you alot of time and hassle...

but if you like a challenge like me... research and do it yourself. i personally wouldnt cover it... i would paint it just do it the right way.

Ok I think ive made up my mind on what I'm gonna do. I need to research it a little bit but if this works it will be easy, cheap and give the door panel a completely custom look unlike any other door panel. My estimated costs are gonna be 75 for both doors. I will keep you all updated as this progresses.

spray the pocket with Bedliner. Sand any overspray then suede it up
