You mean there are no black pillar panels in any Cobalt?? It's not like the 2.4SS or the 2.0SS have model specific pillar covers. Why does it always have to be about the 2.0??

no 2.2's are fast enough to need to moniter anything, therefore they dont need gauges

I am pretty sure there are more light tan pillars than black ones in cobalts.

Yeah. I don't like the fact that it's black. That's not going to look good. Plus people have been mentioning painting the other side. That will look like crap too. One pillar painted and one not doesn't look good either even if they are both black.
Now we have to paint the new pillar and the passanger side for it to look uniform.

ct its not that big of a deal, you just have to paint the pillar to match, depending on where you are, Levine automotove and paints down here in norwalk, can custom mix and make a spray can of paint to match the interior color and you just prep the part, spray bulldog adhesion promoter and then paint with the color match paint.

It will be fine that is all they do and you would have control of the color match yourself

Yeah I know it's not that big a deal work wise it's just the fact that you have to even go through that just for a pillar. Either way it's not like we have a choice right now. Thanks for the info on Levine SS_SC_Cobalt. That might just be the way to go.

Doesn't the pillar have a fabric cover? Unlike most stock plastic pillars? I think that I'm going to try to find that fabric that is on pillars and wrap the gauge pod so it looks exactly like stock, not just color matched. Probably take many tries to get it right though.

recent email from autometer

As the manufacturer, Auto Meter does not sell 'consumer direct' (except
for apparel and data logger items). Therefore, we cannot provide
accurate answers to questions regarding pricing. For all pricing
inquiries, we recommend contacting your local speed shop or distributor
of Auto Meter products for actual prices.

Please visit our Dealer Finder page to find a local or online dealer.
http://www.autometer.com/dealer_finder.aspx

The pods come in black & can be painted with VHT Pod Paint to match the
interior of your vehicle.

I'm wanting this I believe. What gauges could I put in besides the stock boost gauge that would match and look nice while not costing a million dollars?

we still need pictures, and you cant just paint it black, i know my interior nots black its more like charcoal or dark gray. And second paint will not match the interior it is going to look different unless you can match the gloss and texture perfect. I agree autometer has to make these with the stock look

I had the same thing happen with all 7 autometer dealers around Omaha. A couple said it'd probably be a month or so before their supplier gets them (those guys don't order direct from Autometer, I assume), so I'd guess the pods are "released", but not out on shelves or at suppliers yet.

They knew what the part #'s were for, and had them listed, they were just shown as out of stock.

pods

I posted about getting pods made up from this outfit quite some time ago. By now they would have been available and probably quite a bit less then Autometer. Check out their site

http://www.gaugepods.com

Below is taken from their site

Attention car clubs and Internet forum groups. We can manufacture custom gauge holders for your vehicle. Prices starting at just $20 for single pods. Full-length pillars as low as $39.

Minimum order quantity is 30 per project. Some models may require a higher minimum. If both double and triple gauge holders are requested, this represents two projects and consequently, requires 30 pre-paid units each. All orders must be paid prior to project start. Pricing will be determined after receipt of OEM part for evaluation. Most of our products range from $40-$60 ea. Shipping charges and color matching is extra.

REQUIREMENTS:

Name, address, and contact information of project leader. Follow-up will be with project leader only. (Please do not have others call for status)

OEM part from project leader. This will be used for fabricating the mold and is non-returnable.

Make, model and year range specifications.

Color samples (at least 4"x4" sample) of all colors to be painted.

Gauge Size requested (usually 2 1/16" and/or 60mm). Note: some models may not accomodate 60mm gauges due to width limitations.

PRODUCTION SCHEDULE:

Rough mock-up will be made and sent to project leader. Project leader test-fits mock-up - checking for clearance problems and angle of gauges. Project leader returns the mockup with any modifications and approves the design.

Mold-making process - approx 4-5 weeks

Initial production run - approx 3-4 weeks

Finishing and shipping - approx 1 week after product availability.

*******IMPORTANT********

PRODUCTION SCHEDULING IS COMPLEX AND DELAYS ARE NOT UNCOMMON DUE TO THE NUMBER OF PROJECTS AHEAD OF YOURS, MATERIAL LEAD-TIME, ETC. WE DO OUR BEST TO PROVIDE A RESONABLE ESTIMATE OF DELIVERY TIMES - HOWEVER, WE CANNOT GAURANTEE A DELIVERY DATE.

Just to point out. all manual transmissions for cobalt (other than SS/SC) are Getrag which is not SAAB. the SAAB transmission is the F35. An F25 is the 6 speed version which I hope one day they will cast to fit a 2.0L and put it in our cars in 08 or better yet make the car RWD based on SKY and Soltice platform.
