Just got new projector headlights...

I had a question about them. First off has anybody on here that has them switched out the halogen bulbs that came with the headlights and put in HID's as a replacement? If so do the bulbs melt the plastic on the headlight? The bulbs were Sylvania bulbs I think and it started to warp the plastic so the regular halogen bulbs were put back in. Also, if you could, post a pic to show me what it looks like with HID replacement bulbs if you have them. Thanks

HIDs run cooler than a halogen so u don't have to worry about it melting the plastic. I have these coming in the mail along with H7 6,000k HIDs

HIDs run cooler then normal halogen bulbs so you dont have to worry about it melting the plastic unless the bulb is touching the plastic.

Cool guys. Thanks for the info. I am trying to figure out what color HID's I want though. Either the white or the ones with a purple tint to them. Gonna get some for my fogs as well. Any ideas?

4,300k is white and as close to daylight as possible...which is y BMW and other high end cars use this color temp.

I ordered 6,000k which I hear is white light with a slight blue tint to it.

8,000k is blue (but the higher temperature you go, the less light output you get)

10,000k is blue/purple terrible light output

12,000k is purple and worse light output than a halogen bulb

I was told not to go any higher than 6,000k

4,300 or 6000. Any others for the headlights purpose is just a waste.

You should line up those cutoffs, unless they are you were just too close (not at 25ft), then nevermind heh.

I was looking at that. Cause mine look like that as well, they aren't lined up in a neat line. And they face kinda upward. Is there a way to adjust them?

Could be the driveway. If one side is uneven to the other than your cut-offs will angle slightly different.

Makes me want to get a new set to play with.

It's a typical trait of the ECE projectors that they angle slightly up on the passenger side, but I wouldn't have thought that much... wow.

Those are alien lookin. Haven't seen those before.

And semi-off topic, when a light bulb goes out on these cars does the turn signal on the side with a bulb out blink faster? One of my high beam bulbs is out and I noticed my turn signal on that side blinks really fast and on the other side it is normal. lol

Yea, figured. Gonna get a bulb sometime this week cause the only bulb I have out is the high beam on the driver side. And that is the side that blinks fast. And the cut-offs really arent that bad when you are driving down the road. I just wonder if there is a way to adjust the lamp. I would think so.

The reason the bulb blinks faster is because there is less resistance.

Those cut-offs on the new headlights don't even look like projector headlights... extremely disappointing. The old one's were really really nice.

Well they are still proper cutoffs.......just a different version of them. People just have to get used to the idea that these projectors will have the "E mode" cutoff, and the old projectors have the "z pattern" cutoff.

You're running out of blinker fluid, thats all.

It happened when I switched to the projector headlights. The guy I got them from said the high beam was out(I dont care cause I dont use the high beams) and since then the driver side blinker blinks fast and the passanger side is normal. And the driver side has the bright light out. lol. I'm gonna replace the bulb reguardless and if that solves the problem cool. If not now I know what to go check.
