LED Dome Lights?

I dont know much about leds and electricals, but I want to replace the stock map light bulbs with leds since stocks suck. Can I just go into radioshack with the bulbs and find matching sizes or is there more to it than just that?

bump

Check on e-bay. There are plenty to choose from and in different colors. I've had a 6 LED blue one for about a year now.

Well I have a 05 ss/sc and the interior lights are 194.

GET THEM FROM www.superbrightleds.com

I did, and I had no trouble with them as of now.

i used 194s but they were too dim... gonna go with the blinker bulbs instead

They make your car look like a dance club inside though.

http://www.oznium.com/flexible-5mm-led-dome

It's an LED grid and it fits in your domelight space with different adapter, one of which will work for your car.

Haha. Im just looking to replace mine with leds so its brighter and doesnt look yellow. Not sure what this means but the longer bulb says B63 and 561. The smaller bulbs say P 21X 12V W5W. Again, can I just go to radioshack and grab some leds the same size?

bump

Seriously, no help?

Radio Shack does not carry "bulb" LEDs. That is why everyone is recommending places for you to get them. If you want to go through the trouble of wiring up an individual LED where a bulb is supposed to go, have fun. Esp if its in the map light on the mirror.

Oznium used to carry even brighter ones in several different colours... I have the blue in my Cavalier and it is so damn bright it's amazing. If I flicked it on and off and put my hazards on I could definitely pull people over.

I use bulbs from VLEDs, I buy through their eBay store so I can get feedback, but they have a web store as well at www.v-leds.com and they have a huge selection of different types of LEDs.

Everyone is giving you websites to help. YOU CAN NOT GO TO RADIO SHACK FOR L.E.D.'s.

Just go in your in manual or check this website, www.sylvania.com and check your bulb size. Then go off of ebay or any website and get the bulbs. It takes like 3-5 minutes to install. But well worth it.

GO TO: http://www.superbrightleds.com

Or just give me the make/model/year of your car and also tell me if you have a sun roof or not, and ill tell you your size.

This is overdue but thanks everyone. I was under the impression RadioShack had led bulbs and was planning to go there to get some. There were no posts saying otherwise until I left, so I found out the hard way. I did order a bunch of bulbs from www.superbrightleds.com (trunk, side markers, license plate, and all map lights.) Again, thanks for the help and I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Oh, its cool. Did you find out every bulb size? Cuz its annoying to have to re-order and WAIT for them to come again. Im not patient.

I need to order my license plate too. Dang, i need to do that. Been putting that off for a long time now.

Ebay! I got a 12(I think, don't feel like counting) LED red one on there long time ago. A little over priced, but works great! It compliments the car nicely, but I have the dome light, not the map lights.

You can get anything on ebay. We found ice once. lol Anyway on the topic of LEDs what would the best be to do like the HHR has? If anyone's seen it, the one that lights up the center console from the roof. Its lust a low light, blue-ish white light. It's really nice imo. Or even red. What wattage and every thing would just emit enough for a glow?

Pull the clear lens off the mirror, then pull the bulbs out with whatever you can use to grab the bulb.

I used a pair of very narrow needle-nose pliers. Some have used tweezers, but I didn't have anything large enough for this. I had issues getting the pliers to grab hold of the glass, so I ended up putting small bits of double sided foam tape (the stuff used on the badges) on the ends of the pliers. Then I grabbed the bulb with the pliers, waited a few seconds to let the stickiness take hold, then yanked the bulb right out.

Not to highjack the tread, but I was thinking about replacing my real license plate bulb with some ultra-bright white LED's and i know they are bulb size 194 but what is the type? There are a ton of them on VLEDs.com look at um all lol!

Btw, i replaced my map lights with Blue LED bulbs and they are insanely bright, you can seem them in my sig picture from the outside.

They light up the whole dash and front seat at night.

LED going be bright as **** there going be a spotlight on you well its on and if you doing something illegal (like smoken a J) you will stand out like a sore thumb

I personley keep my dome light off at all times even at night I learn to turn my car on in the pure dark never miss the keyhole get it every time I don't like unwanted attention so I learn to do everything in pitch black it works I blind in like a ninja

If you do it everyday you will memorized the keyhole and every *** in your car with out looking its a good skill to have when you need to use a ***/button with out having to take your eyes off the road.

GET THEM FROM www.superbrightleds.com

I did, and I had no trouble with them as of now.
So the 194 is a replacement for the 562 dome light bulb?
