They also sell the resistors to install to prevent hyperflash. You will need a resistor for each bulb. I did a "How-To" on installing the resistors.
I also converted the 3rd brake light to LED but they do not require resistors.
This is what I ordered... then I ordered the resistors once I realized that I hated the hyperflash.
---------- PRODUCT INFORMATION ----------
Qty | Product / Options | Price (each) |
================================================== ==============
2 | 18-LED 16mm Wedge Base Tower bulb | $ 17.95 |
Red 3157-R18-T
----------------------------------------------------------------
3 | 921-x12 Wedge Base LED bulb | $ 3.95 |
Red 921-R12
----------------------------------------------------------------
Good Luck!!!

Like the OP said, the High Mount Brake Light doesn't need a resistor to work with LEDs. But if you use a generic aftermarket LED strip, unless you put a 6 ohm resistor, like what Superbright and a lot of others sell, your cruise will not work. If you want the cruise you need that resistor IN PARRALEL with the led strip. In other words, between the two wires going to it. DON'T try a resistor from Radio Shack or anywhere else. It will burn your car up. The resistors used must be rated 50 watt, super heavy duty, resistor.
