Molded hood scoop

I am currently molding a hood scoop onto my stock hood. It will look unlike any aftermarket hood available and will be a true custom hood. Yes it is a functional cowl style scoop in the manner that there is an opening cut-open for it, but a scoop is not truly functional on a fuel injected car unles the opening leads straight to the air intake. Here are a few pics of it as it is now, but I should have it painted and ready to put back on the car this Sunday afternoon. Let me know what you guys think.

The opening of the scoop faces towards the windshield.

And it is a completely different style scoop.

What does everybody else think? Good?...Bad...? Waiting to see the final product?

Yeah I'd have to see it painted. I'm not sure on the size of the scoop, may seem a little small but I'm not sure yet

That is kind of the point of a cowl style scoop.

Not sure if I like it or not, would have to see it painted, but I do agree with others that it may be too small. Nice to see something different tho.

I thought about getting a bigger one, but I wanted something subtle. I didn't want something to overwhelm the car. I agree that I could have gone a little bigger, but I chose the size I did so that it would be subtle. Nothing over the top.

Yeah I think going bigger would look better. But nonetheless, some niCe creativity

In the end I think it will look good on the car. I am in the midst of priming it now so I can paint it in the morning.

Just finished the paint. The owner of my shop did it and it looks great. Here are some pics. Pics of the hood on the car will be posted later.

its a good idea to get the heat out. Gotta be cheaper than the Invader extractor hood

Sorry I don't like it man! It messes up the lines of the hood with the car, especially the autoparts store hood scoop!

I don't expect everyone to like it. That's why we all do different things to our cars. I didn't want to spend $800 on an aftermarket fiberglass or carbon fiber hood, and since I have the resources to make my own, i did.

By the way, that scoop is not one from an auto parts store. It is from Summit and is designed to be molded into an existing hood.
