My winter Tire/wheel selection
My winter Tire/wheel selection
I have decided to go with 16" snow tires and as well as wheels for the winter for my SS/SC. I know the 16's wont be real sexy but they are cheap and will get the job done. Here are the ones I have chosen:

Tire Rack will also mount and balance them free before they ship them so that saves some money right there.

I got 16" steels for mine with Continental ContiWinterContacts. They seem like good tires, they're recommended for Porsche's and stuff so they shouldn't be too bad at all. I got them in 205/60-16.
I just bought some firestone winterforce snows, I've got the base coupe so brake clearance was'nt an issue for me, had em mounted on the 15 steelies they are a tad noisey and have some give with the deep tread and large sidewall ,but for go in the snow they get good reviews.snows are gonna be a compromise in dry weather. but for the price you cant beat em better than blizzaks for 1/2 the price. come spring im gonna get some 17s with good rubber for the dry(kinda partial to cooper Zeons) and keep the snows on the steelies for winter. I live in NY we get some decent snowfall so snowtires are a no brainer anyone who thinks all seasons will get them thru should reconsider.
Everytime someone mentions snow tires I remember that episode of Top Gear where they raced a bob sled down a mountian in a ralley Evo or STi (can't remember). It had studded tires, was pretty sweet lookin'.
Anyway looks like a good selection as far as wheels and tires. I wish it snowed more down here, so when it did snow I wouldn't have to wake up early to drive 20miles at 5mph. I'd equip snow tires with studs the night before and drive ralley style.... and probably be branded a complete maniac.

I'm going to paint them black this weekend.
