I've played this game before. You will not find any halogen bulbs that will make a night and day difference with what you got now. Avoid any bulbs that have a coating on them to make them "look" more white. This includes the SilverStar bulbs. Some of those companies claim to put out more light for the same wattage and charge a much higher price for them, but their life is a lot shorter. I've tried the GE NightHawk bulbs. They are a little brighter too, but they just don't last long. You can also find higher wattage "Chinese" bulbs on eBay, but the bulb alignment and filament alignment is so off that your beam pattern will be screwed up.

Your next option is to check into Catz Zeta. These kits are starting to become more hard to find. What these kits do is boost the voltage to your bulbs. So you can simply run cheap Long Life bulbs and get a lot more light from them.

Wait a minute! I'm no electronics expert but wouldnt boosting the power and making the bulbs have to handle the extra voltage make them burn hotter and have a shorter life? I know everyone said stay away from coated bulbs but luminics makes blue bulbs. They aren't my taste but they are blue. And if your wanting light output without going hid then nokya makes stage2 bulbs I believe low beam is 80w and high beam is 100w they are bright as hell, although I've heard stories of melting headlight harness'. I had a set in my bike with no problems though.

My friend Ryan started trying all the different bulbs back when on his cavalier before switching to HIDs. He was sad he wasted all that money. IMO its the only option worth doing with headlight upgrades. Build a set of retros ( or buy a set in the classifieds ) with a set of HIDs and you wont consider going back.

if you wanna stay halogen, silverstars are nice and have good output, but life span kinda sucks on em, plus IMO they have just as bad glare as hids
