Yeah there's dip that's just as glossy if not glossier than real paint and with less orange peel. Dip isn't going away lol.

I plasti dipped my rims on my current car. It's lasted quite some time and through a rough winter. This pic was after about 2 months of being done. Makes it look much better 😅

Just did this car for my buddy. It's not plastidip but a vinyl based spray able product. Much smoother than dip. Does not have a rubbery feel to it. I also did my own car but I'm not ready to post pictures yet

Not familiar with cerberus. There is also a product called autodip which is meant to look like a vinyl instead of a rubber-like material.

I'm good with vinyl wrap, and my roommate does it for a living, any upsides to dip over vinyl?

Im going to be doing some experiments with the purple blaze dip today. On different color base coats. I know I've seen some different videos online but I'd rather do it myself. I'll post pictures later !

Topcoat is definitely not new lol. Has been out more than a year. I'll post a pic I did of my wheels in topcoat mixed with pearls which reduces the gloss into a satin finish.

I never said plastidip was good lol. Autodip does feel better than regular dip but it is very overpriced and fragile for what you get. There are better options out there that are more cost effective and last much longer.

Yea its not new but its the newest finish in the dip market. I wish i would have done a few more coats on mine last year. Only got a satin finish out of it but it still feels so much smoother than unfinished dip.

Is that clear coat available in aerosol cans ? I can only find it in a quart or a gallon. Also, every time I've done plasti dip. It has no texture at all. It is rubbery feeling. But no getting around that.

No it is not available in aerosols and won't be.

Also it is not the newest finish on the market. It's already been surpassed by autoflex which is a product from dipyourcar. Autoflex is basically paint. Same feel as paint can be buffed sanded chemical resistance etc. Same glossyness as paint as well. It's removable as well. Need a compressor setup and a booth to properly shoot it.

That rubbery feeling....that's with all plastidip products. Unless you wax them. That's why im.moving away from plastidip. There's better products out there

I would love to be able to start doing some stuff with autoflex. However I don't have any of the required equipment. Hell. I don't even have a big enough compressor. Lol.

It is changing and improving rapidly that's for sure. The pros get less orange peel than factory finishes with autoflex and then have 0 peel when cut and buffed. Absolutely mirror finish.

Yeah I'm currently upgrading to a 60 gallon compressor and have a nice gun on the way so I can get better results overall and then later move on to autoflex and htg

What kind of equipment would you suggest if I wanted to get into spraying either plasti-dip or other products. I saw that on dipyourcar they have kits. Do you know if either the basic or the pro kits are any good ?
