Opinions on Neons

hey guys, just a quick question about neons. Do you think its worth it to put underneath neons on a coupe cobalt? the colour scheme for my car is going to be, well the car is black and am going to be adding green to the mix, figured it should look nice eventually. Not sure whether or not i should put neons on though...

THe cars are ugly and slow.... oh lighting!

I don't know about Canada, but around here, the only attention they attract is police. And they give your car a complete roadside lookover before giving you a ticket

And they'll harass everyone with a car that looks like yours too. I would love to find the ******* with the blue Cobalt near me with neons, tint, and whatever else they have or do to **** the cops off, but I've mistakenly been pulled over 6 times now thinking I'm him. So far they've asked about window tint, neons, and tinted taillights...but whoever this guy is (and yes, I know it's a guy because without even taking a look at who is driving the car they automatically call me "sir") must get his share of tickets for lighting and tints...

Sucks to be you alley! I've only seen base model cobalts driven by middle aged men as business cars. And I've yet to see another SS SC...

I imagine riced balts will get really bad in about 2 years when the Cobalt’s are cheap enough for low income teen agers to afford and bastardize.

If you get neons (aka street glow) you will be called a "Ricer" by 99% of the members on the cobaltss.net forum site.

They already exist, sadly. I've seen a few riced ones around the Burgh. Nothing too horrible like some of the atrocities committed against Cavaliers or mid-90s Civics, but still some are pretty damn bad.

What sickens me is there's a shop opening up in my neighborhood which specializes in Lambo doors...I cringe to think about what monstrosities will be roaming around that place.

I'm also with the big fat NO vote to neons. Outside of one or two at a car show, I've NEVER seen a car with neons that looked remotely appealing.

Putting neons on your car is like making out with a distant cousin. It's ok as long as no one sees you doing it. J/K do what ever you want to your car, green under black will look pretty good.

no no no because then semi's will think you're Vince, Jesse, and Dominic Toretto coming to steal their DVD players!

Anyway I really don't care if you put Neon under your car, its your car and you can do with it what you wish. As long as its not an LS and you want an SS wing or SS badging.

Screw you! Some of us don't have money falling out of our ******** and can't afford an SS/SC. However, neon is indeed rice-bitch crap and you should stay away at all costs.

i have a question about this neon thing cus I had thought of it back when I owned my 3000gt. Now I personally think it looks tacky when you have em turned on when driving around and it totally attracts the wrong kind of attention but what if your stopped ... at a red light ... and the car is not in motion? The reason I ask is cause my dad has a line of fire on his tail gate for his avalanche and it only turns on when you apply the brakes and the left or right side will blink depending on which blinker you just turned on and it looks really good. Now lets say you apply the same concept to the under car street glow whatevers and they only turn on when you apply the brakes? Of course there could be a cut off for day time driving since you wont see the light very well.

It's your car and ultimately your choice. Personally though, I will have to ask you NOT to put any neons on your car. PLEASE don't do it.

Depending on your state laws, it's still not legal and would probably still look pretty stupid. I have seen other people with underglow neons that they leave on while their car is parked, which looks a) even more ghetto fabulous and b) screams "please steal me, I probably have more aftermarket stuff inside!"
