Painting Calipers
Another option for us sunburst orange guys is Dupli Colors "metal cast" series. It's high temp paint so it won't bubble or crack under the heat the calipers put off. It takes two or three coats to get it up to the stock color because it's supposed to be an anodized paint, but the results are nice. I haven't done my calipers yet but I plan to when the weather gets nice again. I would also make sure to get a high temp clear to go on them too.
cool. when i get a sunny weekend imma do that. after that imma be tinting my tail lights. i was thinking about trying to do that and the calipers in the same day buy that might me too much work ill probably regret tinting the tail lights because you know elk grove cops are picky about **** like that haha
I have a yellow cobalt and I painted my Calipers red by hand with that $15 Wal-Mart kit.
They look great, front ones get dirty all the time. But it was easy. Make sure you paint all of the cast metal down there. If you only paint the middle part then they will not stand out as much. It looks bigger and better when you paint it all. Just need a little more patience.

I have seen the yellow Calipers. That's an awful idea. I would go red or black. I prefer red. I'll see if I have a head on picture.
Is there any way to prevent the brake dust on the calipers? Because I know if you paint them, then brake dust will accumulate on them. Is there something like a clear-coat that would protect them? or something to keep them that shiny color?
There's no paint or anything that will keep them clean. You can get low-dust brake pads. The simple solutuion I do is just give them a quick clean with a rag everytime I wash the car and it generally keeps them looking good until the next wash
you can clear coat them, and its much easier to clean, and keeps it a little cleaner to...other then that...stop breaking at 140mph
I dont recondmend the caliper spray paint(used it on a friends car). I bought a caliper painting kit from walmart for about $25 made by Dupicolor and it worked great, you paint it with a brush and it comes with caliper cleaner. It did flake abit on the front over the winter, but I only used one coat and it is 6 months old. There is enough paint to do them over again another 10 times aswell....
I am planning on doing the caliper thing soon as well, i have looked on the net for caliper kits, and have come across the dupli color and also a g2 system. Both look similar, the g2 system is about twice as expensive as the dupli color, didnt know if anyone has used this g2 stuff and if it is worth the extra cash, cuz under 20 bucks for the duplicolor seems nice and it sounds like everyone is happy with it for the most part. Thanks
