Painting Engine Cover???

I Was Thinking About Painting My Engine, Fuse Box Cover, Etc. My Car Is Silver And I Was Thinking About Going With A 2-tone Gray And Silver With Possibly A Blue Stripe Breaking Them Up. What Do You Guys Think? Also What Is The Best Thing To Use To Clean Them With Before Painting And What Kind Of Paint? Something In A Spray Can And Inexpensive Just To See How It'll Look?

well, you're batter is in the trunk, so i would assume you mean your fuse box cover

but you can use whatever. when i did mine on the 2.2 (i know, i know ) i used regular ole plastic spraypaint. cost like 4 dollars. cleaned it, primed it, couple light coats of paint. and you take them off the car of course.

yea, i used krylon the first time, did it blue. it was way too bright. i had the blue granite color, which i loved. i went to the local auto parts store and picked up some color matched (wasn't blue granite, but you couldn't tell the difference, was actually an import blue color) and it came out awesome.

here's some of the darker

and here was the brighter:

just put a flathead screwdriver in the crack at the top and pry it out. youll have to use a good amount of force and itll sound like you're breaking it but dont worry you arent

that's the perf red tintcoat body color

you can do this all with duplicolor paint, but i just primed mine with a cheap flat black paint. then sprayed about five to six light coats of duplicolor silver on them. then kyrlon clear. dont go with rustoleum, as it takes forever for that stuff to dry

hey how did you get the thing around the guage cluster off?? I really like that. Also, has anyone had any problems with the trim fitting sort of loose afterwards? do I need more metal clips or what?
