is it possible to put the g5 taillights on a cobalt if you replace the bumper with a g5 bumper??

 

it should be possible. g5 bumper g5 taillights, i don't see why it wouldn't be a direct swap.

 

Yeah should be a direct swap...But I don't like those tail lights...I mean if you do, go for it

well my ol lady has an ls and she really wanted a g5 but her parents talked her into the cobalt instead lol so just helping her out haha

now tell every one a 2007 2.4 ss is the same thing as a 2008 2.4 sport. they both can be either called ss or sport cause they are the same cars too!

 

yeah theyre the same but they are not an ss. Its a sport. Oddly enough my ins has it listed as an ss.. No idea why. They said its a letter in the vin

 

they both can be either or if your not looking at vin which who would anyway. the 2.4 ss's should of been called sport from the start but since gm screwed that up i have every right to call my car a 2.4 ss

the 2.4L SS never came in your blue-purple tropicana color or whatever its called, nor was it made in 08.

the 2.4L sport did though.

Everyone knows its fundamentally the same car, but guess what, its a sport, in 08 they changed the name. Just like the G5 and Cobalt are different cars. Same body, drivetrain everything else, but ones a pontiac, ones a chevy.

TO the OP. Get the G5 tailights, the g5 front bumper, pontiac center caps for the wheels, and steering wheel badges and oyu should be good...except for the reverse lights, I'd like to see how those would hook up myself.

Give it a rest. You drive a Sport, NOT an SS. If it bothers you that much trade it in and buy an 07. Problem solved.

 

i kinda want to do a G5 rear end swap, put on the G5 GT rear fascia, wth the RK-Sport rear valence, G5 taillights, and then have ultra bright white LED's glowing through the seam between the trunk and the taillights for reverse.

 

well this is goin to be my project just seeing others input on if it would swap and the rk sport body kit and spoiler is the sickest thing i have seen for the cobalt appearance wise but the kit is only on the g5 and for the cobalt its a lip kit which i dont like but im def not buying it for the girl and making her car LOOK better then mine haha

and also on a g5 the reverse lights are in the bumper next to the plate its goin to be a lil hard to cover the reverse light holes but nothin a welder (big hammer) and bondo cant do if the brains are there

yes it is completely possible the car run down the same assmebly line so everything is interchangeable

 

My insurance has my 2008 SS listed as a sport. Hrm...well, as offensive as that may be to me, it probably means my rates are cheaper than they need to be, too, so I can live with it.

(and yes, I gave them the VIN, and that's how the classified it)

It will not work..the frame of the car is made to mount round teil lights.... not G5 lights.

Taking off the G5's talights and bumper it looks pretty similar to the cobalt's. The center part of the G5 tailights are round, that is where the actual light is isn't it?
