Actually to me the G5 tails look like a ring; the outside part illuminates.

And to answer your question, yes, if you replace the bumper with one from a G5, you can (and should) replace lights with G5 ones. Replace the trunk while you're at it, though, as I just can't see the G5 lights meshing too well with the coupe trunk.

Would be interesting to see the set up on a sedan, though.

 

im about 98% sure it will work i tell you what to do to check first get some G5 Tail lights and take you cobalt lights and put them back to back and see if the studes line up with each other, if they do then it will work, because the bumpers are defantly inter changable, and even if they dont match it will be as easy as drilling new holes for the studs to go through and putting the G5 bumper on, put the tails in and bolt them down

i've seen both cars at the junkyard and it is possible to interchange the rear and front

what color is her car? hope you can get a rear bumper the same color in good condition to swap

 

i think im goin to do it to my car give it to her and then trade hers in on a ss tc
my car is sunburst which i have already found out that its hard as hell to find good sunburst parts but my brother is a certified painter so really it doesnt matter what colors i find

 

you can always take off the rear bumper and find out for yourself... which is what i would do. but i believe he is right.., i think you would have to do some frame cutting and welding.

 

i dont think i will they run down the same assembly line gm likes to save money so they probably made them exactly the same besides the bumper covers either way ill get it dont and then post pics of the conversion just have to find some g5 tails

I still think a 2-door cobalt would look better with the tails of a G5 And thats all personal pref. It shouldn't be too hard?
