and the 1st gen and 3rd gen aren't plug and play... you have to wire the halos and leds but thats easy so dont worry. the 2nd gen are nice because they are 100% plug and play and the halos are CCFL so much brighter. i personally like the gen 1 but its your choice.

and yeah new bulbs is easiest fix if you get the projectors. i love mine and i have the 3b spec hid kit.

oh and ps... gen 2 has an H7 bulb size, gen 1 and 3 have H1 bulbs

Well I have the 1st gen projectors and my halos and led's came prewired. All I had to do is put in the bulbs provided with the kit and connect harness to stock harness in the car removed previously from old headlights. I know the low beam (outside projector) was H1 for sure not sure about the other bulb which is actually for your high beam (middle light non-projector) to answer one of your questions. I had purchased an HID kit, mounted the ballast under the headlight and the bulb fit perfectly where H1 bulb was supposed to be. The clip held the bulb in place just fine. Eventually the Halos and LEDs begin to burn out and I have since replaced them very easily I might add and changed the colors. Check my image gallery if you would like to see how they look. If you have anymore questions or I left something out let me know.

1st gen have the two halos side by side with the 3 LEDs in the inside corner with the blinker on the outside

2nd gen have the CCFL bar across the top

3rd gen have the halos set front and back more then the others and the 3 LEDs are at the bottom i believe

I don't know if anyone answered your question about the two "eyes" but one is the low beam and the second is the high beam. If your gonna get projectors then you should get two hid kits. I think the h1 would be for the low beam and the high beam is h7 I think (for gen 2) or else you gonna have two beams with the same light output. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. LOL

I believe Gen 1 and Gen 3 (BOTH) projectors use Hi's/Low's are H1 bulbs. Gen 2 Hi's/Low's are H7 bulbs. The Hi/low (9007 Stock Cobalt light is now split into 2 lights, I'm assuming these are the "eyes" you mean.)

The point of the projector is to "Cut off" glare on your low beam,( this avoids blinding oncoming traffic!); The high beam is to illuminate more, therefore there is no cut off, usually having HID low beams your need for HI beams is lessened so HID Hi's would be more visual then it would be Cost effective. For me, when I get my projectors I will be using Silverstar Hi's, because $50 for something I rarely use is better then $130+...

My $0.02

This is also an excellent forum, might help with future questions:

Gen 2 are deffinitely 2 different bulbs. I have luminics on both and 1 is h1 and h7. My buddy has a set of hids for $60 shipped and they're fine. I would never pay over $100 for em.

What I actually did was look at the base of the bulb and right there it says if it's h1 or h7. That's what i went with before I got the luminics. It probably no big deal having same bulbs for highs and lows but I didn't wanna risk it
