gen 1's like the OP posted are the best quality light that i have seen. Iv dealt with every aftermarket headlight for cobalts and the gen 1's seem to be the most solid made. although i dont like the look of them with the reflector on top as much as the other ones. Gen 2's i absolutely despise. 3rd gen's are my favorite if u put OEM lenses on. 4th gen's are nice and clean but the lenses are garbage as well. i have a set in my attic that need lenses since they were **** and cracking everywhere.

yeah. but i heard they stress crack more if you run with the stock bulbs they come with

i ran stock bulbs in my set for abour 2 seconds and that was when i pluged them in and turned them on to make sure they worked. ive been running hids ever since. and i only have liek 4 or 5 little half inch stress cracks thats it. my friend had them on his car for 2 weeks and his got tornn up baddd

if you want a legit set up with no problems get a set of retro's made up

who knowsss probally because the parts are cheap to make there fore they can make alot of them at a mass quanitys at a cheap price

but what ever headlight you decide to go with make sure you seal them up with silicone before you install just incase because w.e you get always has the tendency to leak and condensate. a tube of RTV silicone is all you'll need

seal all around the whole perimeter of the light pretty much the whole shape of the light.

headlights are all the same shape to fit in ur headlight hole so yea all lenses are interchangeable. and the stress cracks are im sure causes by the plastic constantly heating and cooling. Fillament bulbs are much hotter than HID bulbs but none the less even if u get an HID bulb ur still running a fillament running light and those lenses are just garbage. Retros are the best projecters for light, but honestly the cutoff on all projectors aside from the 2nd gen is pretty good. 3rd gen needs a quick modification done from the back of the light to make it great. so get whatever u want and just bake ur headlights and swap lenses on them. seal them up real good and u should never have to worry about them again.

i love the agressive look of the 3rd gen's how the halos flow downward like my eyelid

heres some blacked out 4th gen's for ya

i just bake em, peel lenses off, do what i gotta do to the light, push lenses on hand tight, put in oven bake, take out of oven push lenses on as tight as theyll possibly go. Then get out the caulking gun and a big tube of silicone and bead it around the outside of the light, get some latex gloves on and push the silicone into the crease with my finger as i run down the light. My personal set seems to be doing pretty well.

im planning on getting hid high and low beam so im not worried about filiment heat. do all these lights take the h1 hid bulbs?

i think im gonna get 4th gen if i decide to get them, and get high/low hids, i dont care if the high beam is in a refractor since i wont be using them much.

Now this baking to get the lense off, at what temp for how long?
